Changes to the Hybrid Schedule
Because more students will attend each day, we have adjusted the pick-up routine. There will be no changes to the 8:00 AM drop-off. All students will continue to enter through the Yale and Harvard gates each morning. At the 11:00 AM pick-up, however, we will add a third gate for dismissal. Our second and third graders with or without older siblings will be picked up along 10th Street. Kindergarten and first grade students, as well as their siblings will stay with their current routine and be picked up at the Yale-Yellow gate. Fourth, fifth and sixth graders who have no younger siblings will continue to be picked up at the Harvard-Green gate. The 10th Street gate will serve just the families whose youngest students are in second and third grade.
As is true at the Yale and Harvard gates, students using the 10th Street gate may be picked up by walking adults or drivers. Those who walk up will be joined with their child(ren) at the gate nearest the corner of Yale and 10th. Drivers will pull to the south curb of 10th Street (signage will make this area clear) while children are brought to the car. The area for pick-up is much smaller than Yale and Harvard. To ensure traffic flow, drivers should travel east on 10th Street moving from Indian Hill to Harvard. Because the curb for pick-up is close to the corner of 10th and Yale, you will not be able drive south on Yale and get into the line. Doing so may leave you stranded in the intersection and could create an unsafe condition for individuals using the crosswalk.
These short in-person days present a challenge for many families. Try checking in with the families of classmates to see how you can help one another. Contact us in the office or talk with your child's teacher if you need assistance or have questions. We thank you for making this additional adjustment, and we appreciate your patience as we learn this new routine.
Thank you for all you're doing.
Sincerely,
Amy Stanger

Family Input Letters
It’s hard to believe its the middle of May! Our year is coming to an end, and we are planning for next year already. Very soon, staff will be organizing students into next year's classroom groups. Decisions about class placement are based upon countless and often confidential variables. We know quite a bit about our students, and this knowledge guides us in setting up our classroom communities.
Families are welcome to add their insights to this process in what we call an Input Letter, a written statement with the family's observations about their child’s school-based relationships and response to various learning environments. We ask that your comments speak to your child. Do not request a classroom or teacher, as our placements are too complex to be able to honor narrow requests in that way. Focus on your child as a learner. This year's letters must be received no later than June 1 in order to ensure your comments are available for consideration.
This letter is not at all required! I can assure you that our staff is fully committed to creating classroom communities that will be supportive for all. Please complete the Family Input Letter and email it to me at astanger@cusd.claremont.edu.
