Giant Feeding Kids Campaign 2024
The GIANT Company is excited to kick off its Feeding School Kids Campaign to support our district’s meal program. The campaign kicked off on January 1 and will run through the end of March. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised at our local GIANT store on Holly Road in Gilbertsville through ‘round up’ will benefit our school district.
‘Round up’ is Giant’s program of asking its customers if they want to round up their grocery bills for non-profit organizations. BASD has been the recipient of their winter program generosity in the past. Through their giving, we have offset the rising cost of food and provide nourishing meals to all students regardless of their ability to pay.
Along with customer generosity, The GIANT Company will match up to $100,000 of dollars raised across their stores.
Thank you for your ongoing generosity!

Middle School West After-School Homework Help 2023-2024
After-School Homework Help (ASHH) will begin on Monday, September 18, 2023. For those not familiar with the program, ASHH is a time when students may stay after school and work on schoolwork from 2:40PM-3:40PM every Monday & Thursday. Students will be supervised and provided with academic support from several of our teachers. Students must have transportation home at 3:40PM or will walk home (if living in the walker zone). Students should be picked up at the main entrance in the front of the building. Students do not need to sign up ahead of time, but will be required to sign in upon entry.
Students should report to ASHH immediately after the dismissal bell:
- Mondays – 2:40PM-3:40PM – Room 91 – Ms. Dentith
- Thursdays – 2:40PM-3:40PM – Room 48 – Mrs. Witman
Students attending ASHH are expected to follow the Student Code of Conduct. Students not following the established rules will be removed from the program, and may receive school disciplinary consequences.
Virtual ASHH Option
In order to help accommodate all students, a virtual ASHH option is available. There will be an open ASHH Google Meet from 6:30PM-7:30PM on Tuesday evenings.
If you choose to participate in the virtual ASHH option, please join the Google Classroom using code: sqzr4kp. Once in the classroom, click the Google Meet link on the left side of the main page. Ms. Warren will facilitate the virtual ASHH program.
ASHH will not be held on early dismissal days or days when school is not in session.
Title I Information
Boyertown, Colebrookdale, Earl and Washington are the identified Title I elementary schools in our district. Middle School West is also identified as a Title I school. These schools receive Title I funding based on the percentage of low-income eligible students.
Title I is a federally funded program purposed with ensuring all children have a fair and equal opportunity to learn and grow. Beginning in the 2023-24, Boyertown has transitioned to a Schoolwide Title I program. A Schoolwide program is designed to serve all students in a Title I building and improve all structures to help support student learning. Our Schoolwide plan was developed with the help of parents, community members, teachers, and administrators. Our plan is evaluated annually to determine the impact that these supports have on student achievement.
As a Schoolwide Title I building, the staff is reviewing all students' data to determine needs. Students are identified for intervention if in need of academic support, primarily in the area of reading. All students receiving additional support must qualify through our district assessments.
Support is provided to the students individually or in small groups both in class and as a pullout program. Schools set a goal for academic progress that will be measured through mid-year and end-of-the-year assessments. The Reading Specialists, Intervention teachers, paraprofessionals, and classroom teachers partner together to support all Title I students.
As a Title I Schoolwide building, all students are considered Title I students and all teachers are considered Title I teachers. All of our professionals are highly qualified teachers. They hold a Bachelor's Degree or higher, Pennsylvania certification, and have shown competency in their subject area. In addition, the paraprofessionals in the program are also highly qualified. They have either an Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree, a minimum of two years of college, or have passed a rigorous local assessment.
Our district works diligently to use the Title I funds as required and to provide these additional services to enhance the educational program of our Title I students. If you have any questions about the Title I program, please reach out to your building's reading specialist or call the Title I office at (610) 369-7414.
