Dressing up in character....
Grease is the word that you heard.....we dressed up in to support Red Ribbon Week! We said "boo" to drugs as our favorite characters!
Working on things that are hard!
The grit and determination to work through challenges is excellent. Well done, Ms. Crabill!
Fall blew in quickly this week!
Playing in leaves is so much fun!
Accidentally 'twinning'!
Flannel Fridays are a real thing now, that we have colder temperatures.
Ms. Davis is amazing!
After school, Ms. Davis showed how to dance with ballerina steps and moves and these little ones imitated her modeling! How cool!!!
Love that older students can guide younger students in their learning!
We celebrate when students learn to count and sometimes, it's with another student helping them learn! Well done!
Enjoying the outdoors!
We celebrate students dressing up for fun!
Mr. Smith is giving great teaching advice
We are fortunate to have so many skilled educators like Mr. Smith at our school to help our students learn!
Right At School Adjustment to the school day.
Our Right At School students are increasing in enrollment, and must report to the cafeteria where GQES staff manage them until 2:38 every day.
A Message from GQES Administration:
Week 14: 11/6/23-11/10/23
Chameleons RISE: Raising Intentionality Strengthening Expectations for students, teachers, administration, and families.
Dear GQES Families,
Thank you for sending your child to us every day, on time, and ready to learn! Help your child's classroom to achieve the best attendance for their grade level. We select winners every 3 weeks. A child cannot learn if they are not in school, please send your child every day to school!
We want to make sure parents know how their child is progressing. If you need to schedule a parent conference, please let your child's teacher know. As a parent, you should know how your child is doing related to behavior, academics, and attendance.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
- Annual Turkey Trot will be on 11/20 and/or 11/21 if raining. More information to come.
- STEM night is 11/30/23 from 5:00-6:30pm
More information:
- It is important for students to learn how to regulate their emotions, especially if they experience situations or conflicts. See the link below for more awareness on zones of regulation: Zones of Regulation. Ms. Sara Shoemaker (full time school counselor) and Ms. Karen King (who we share with Virginia Avenue Charlotte Dehart Elementary School) are excellent at helping students and families
- Please always update your child's emergency contacts, addresses, custody and/or phone numbers as changes may arise.
- Always, always support your child's positive behavior by encouraging your child to show our expectations at GQES: smiling faces, listening ears, helping hands, respecting boundaries and trying our best on all learning tasks!
If you have questions or concerns, always feel free to contact us at 540-662-3575. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child thrive!
Sincerely,
Joanie Hovatter
