Lost and Found
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the upcoming holidays, it important to remind parents and families that candy, desserts, baked goods (store bought/homemade), or any other edible items are not to be sold or distributed at school or on the bus unless approved in advance by school administration. Per our Student Code of Conduct, students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for violation 7A: Failure to Follow Rules and all candy or food items will be confiscated. Please discuss this expectation and possible consequences with your student(s) as this will be taken very seriously. This is due to recent national and state reports about students sharing edible items and synthetic medications with other students that contain very harmful substances.
Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!
News from the School Governance Council
The School Governance Council (SGC) is a governing body that is represented by parent representatives, community members, teachers, and school staff. The Council is responsible for making decisions regarding the strategic direction of the school.
This year, the SGC is responsible for allocating $46,390 in flexible spending to support the strategic plan for AMMS. During our September meeting, we approved the renewal of two technology subscriptions (Generation Genius and Flocabulary), an in-house science field trip for all 7th grade students, and funds for the PBIS program. The total of these purchases were $11,055.
As a component of Fulton’s commitment to safety within our schools, the Board and Dr. Looney have designated funding for school-specific security purchases. Each school has been allocated $25 per a student with schools earning a minimum of $15,000. SGCs must vote to approve all spending recommendations. Autrey Mill Middle School recently underwent a safety assessment and are awaiting their recommendations for improvements to the campus. Stay tuned for more updates!
More information about the SGC can be found at https://www.fultonschools.org/domain/4058.

Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying Prevention Month is a nationwide call to action around educating communities to their roles in bullying prevention and to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. Everyone can share in the efforts to Stop Bullying and Stand Up for Kindness.
Encourage all students to make a commitment to be together against bullying and united for kindness, with acceptance and inclusion for all.
The Week of October 17th: Include Everyone Don't let anyone at school eat alone in the cafeteria. Include other students in school activities. Include other students in after school activities. Invite someone you don't know to sit next to you on the bus. Learn about each other. It’s important to remind our friends and classmates that we’re all in it together and we’re here to listen and support.
