FLY LIKE AN EAGLE DAY

Fly Like an Eagle Day is quickly approaching! This is a day that provides opportunities to build teamwork across grade levels. Each class is matched with another class and together they rotate through team-building stations. The goal is to build camaraderie amongst these teams with the hope these relationships ("Buddies") continue throughout the school year!

Don't forget that students may wear free dress but are encouraged to participate in the themes that their classes pick.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We love help and support from our CCA families! There are several volunteer and donation opportunities (which count towards volunteer hours). Please bring donations to school no later than Wednesday, August 30, so we can ensure we have enough supplies for all our students!

Our students took the iReady Math and Reading Assessment during the week of August 21, 2023. This assessment gives us a baseline understanding of the math and reading level that our students are at. We use this information to design our instruction to meet the learning needs of each child. On Friday, September 1, 2023 students in grades K-4 will receive their iReady Assessment report in their backpacks. On Friday, September 1, 2023 we will be mailing home the iReady Assessment results for students in grades 5-8. If you have any questions regarding the iReady Assessment please feel free to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher and/or Annemarie Mahan.

Earn volunteer hours by providing snacks to the CCA staff every Monday. Store bought items equal one volunteer hour, and homemade items count as 2 volunteer hours. Sign up one week before you will bring snacks. We love taking care of our teachers and staff!

We are excited to announce Cherry Creek Academy’s first-ever Spirit Shop. The community has asked for a place to purchase CCA gear, and now it’s here. Show your school spirit by wearing these items at CCA community events, Athletic events, and on the weekends. These items can only be worn to school on Free Dress Days because we are an exclusive Dennis Uniforms school. Our Online Spirit Shop will open Next week on Monday, September 4, 2023, and be open until Thursday, September 14, 2023. Once all orders have been placed, we will receive all orders here at CCA in about three weeks. Once the orders arrive, we will distribute them to students to bring home.

Attention all CCA Middle School students: Peer Helpers will begin meeting on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 7:20am in Mrs. MacFarland's room. Any middle school students who are interested in participating in our Peer Helper program should plan on attending this meeting. Peer Helpers are a group of Middle School students who are trained in leadership skills in order to help their fellow CCA community. Please email Mrs. Velasquez KVelasquez@cherrycreekacademy.org with any questions. We hope to see you there!

CCA is excited to continue our Finance Club this year! Finance Club aims to teach students about basic financial concepts and to get students thinking about how they will manage their finances in the future. Discussion topics include: Checking, Saving, Types of Credit, Managing Credit, Paying for College, Budgeting, Investing, Traditional vs. ROTH IRA, Taxes, Insurance, Cryptocurrency, Consumer Skills, looking at the largest study of millionaires in America, noteworthy financial authors and influencers, case studies, the stock market challenge, and more! We will meet multiple times a month on specific Mondays after school. Here is the schedule (note, some meeting dates are possible to change). Our first meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 11th from 3:40 pm to 4:40 pm in Mr. Leins' room. Finance Club is for students in grades 6-8. CCA is excited to continue our National Junior Honor Society this year! NJHS is a club that focuses on cultivating scholarship, citizenship, leadership, service, and character. NJHS students represent Cherry Creek Academy in the community and are leaders within the school as they complete five hours of various service activities throughout the academic year. NJHS requires students to have an exemplary academic and character record to become members. Invitations to qualifying students will be sent out during the week of August 28th. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 12th from 7:30 am to 7:55 am in Mr. Leins' room. The cost to join the club is $35 and the RevTrack payment link is here.
