Hello Future 1st Graders!

We are so excited for a brand new school year! We cannot wait to learn new things, be creative, and make so many new friends! Here you will find all of the information you need to know about 1st Grade! We cannot wait to meet you all at "Meet the Teacher" on Friday, August 9th from 8:00-9:00 AM.


***IMPORTANT: If you do not purchase school supplies through the PTA, please bring them to Meet the Teacher on August 9th, so that they may be labeled and ready to go for the first day of school. Thank you for your help with this!***

First Grade Schedule

Summer Bingo!
Hedgcoxe Hounds are ready to start the new school year in 1st Grade! We encourage your child to continue their learning over the summer. Parents, please have your child turn in the Summer Bingo at Meet the Teacher for Hound Bucks!

Mrs. Berry has lots of wonderful book suggestions to read over the summer. Take a look at this reading resource!

First Week Information

Arrival


  • Doors open at 7:00
  • Breakfast can be purchased until 7:25 (on the dot!)
  • Enter the classrooms at 7:25
  • Curriculum begins at 7:40
  • Arrival after 7:40 will result in a tardy


Breakfast is served from 7:00-7:25. If your child will be eating breakfast you may drop them off on the side of the building next to the gym (Georgetown).


Footwear

Students attend PE 4 days a week. On these days please be sure your child is wearing the appropriate footwear for PE. Please check with your child's teacher to see which day they are allowed to wear other types of footwear.


Snack

Students may bring a water bottle and a healthy snack (nothing that requires a spoon). We will eat snack sometime before 10:00 a.m.


Lunch

1st Grades' lunch time is from 12:05-12:35. Due to the excitement of a new year, we ask that there are no visitors during lunch the first week of school. This allows students to learn the structure and rules of lunch time.


1st Grade lunch visitor days are on Mondays. We use the first week of school to learn lunchroom routines. You may begin coming to eat with your child on the second Monday of school. (August 19th).

This is by far the easiest way to get exactly the school supplies your child needs. It's about the same cost as buying them on your own, but you don't have to drive around!

It is easiest to order the school supplies in a pack from our PTA at the link above. However, if you prefer to purchase them yourself, please click on the button above to review the list.
Carpool Tags
If you do not have a tag for your child, you must park and come to the front office with your identification. Please remember this process is in place for the safety of your children. Order by Aug. 1 for "Meet the Teacher" night delivery.
Volunteer Sign-Up Form
We hope that you are able to volunteer to lend a helping hand in First Grade or on the campus. We look forward to working as a team in creating awesome memories! More information coming soon about being a lunch volunteer!
Online Volunteer Application
To volunteer in the classroom or library and to go on field trips you must complete the online volunteer application here AFTER July 1st, 2024.

Instagram

1st grade has an Instagram page and we would like for you to follow us! We are only allowing parents to follow our page. If you have an Instagram page, please send your child's teacher an email with your username so we can identify you after you request access to our private page.
