BLHS culinary wins at state. Next up: national competition
A big congrats to the four Bonney Lake High School culinary arts and management teams that competed at the ProStart Washington State Competition in Seattle last weekend!
One BLHS culinary team took second place for a delicious meal of artichoke spinach dip, northwest salmon and poached apple. Another culinary team competed with an intricate menu of surf taco salad, rabbit birria and for dessert, a choco taco.
One BLHS Management Team won first place for restaurant concept and menu design for a restaurant named “Wish.” Another management team also developed a teriyaki food truck concept and menu that won second place.
The state champions will head to Washington D.C. in May for the annual National ProStart Invitational.
Congratulations to all the students who competed:
SHS, BLHS dance/drill teams headed to state competition
They’ve got the moves.
The Bonney Lake and Sumner high school dance teams are headed to state after qualifying dance routines at a district competition this past weekend. Both teams will compete at the WIAA State Competition the weekend of March 25 at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
The Bonney Lake High School Pantherettes qualified three routines for the competition, winning two first place awards in kick and military and a second place award in pom.
The Sumner High School dance team qualified its lyrical routine, which was choreographed by Head Coach Jenny Ford & SHS Senior Abby S. This is the first year that the dance team has qualified for state in over five years, and has been a season-long goal for the dancers!
SHS Coach Jenny Ford said: "These dancers deserve this! They have worked so hard for this every week. They are determined, driven, and motivated athletes in their sport. I couldn't be more proud!"
Congratulations to both teams and good luck at state!
Panther Robotics places first in district event
The Bonney Lake High School Panther Robotics team competed alongside teams in our area at the FIRST Robotics district competition this month. The team placed first and received the 2023 Creativity Award! Congratulations!
