THE NEXT GENERATION OF HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
Clinton Technical School has a long history of giving high school students a leg-up on their future healthcare career, and this year is no different.
The school's two healthcare programs (Health Occupations and Emergency Medical Technician) currently have 62 students that are getting great experiences as well as the opportunity to earn industry-recognized credentials at the completion of their program.
Recently, EMT students had the opportunity to be “patients” for UMKC's Mass Casualty Drill. Students learned a lot through this experience and thoroughly enjoyed getting to role play.
Health Occupations students recently completed a unit on newborn/infant care.
Students are taught by Megan Weiss (EMT program) and Tanya Snethen (Health Occupations program).

STUDENTS GIVE BACK DURING FIRST SEMESTER
During first semester, TOP (Teen Outreach Program) students at Clinton Middle School completed a number of community service projects. In total, they performed more than 16 hours of service projects that impacted both their school and community. Their last project, making homemade treats for the animal shelter, benefited our four-legged community members.
TOP is a nationally-recognized program that prepares students with the skills they need to be tomorrow's leaders, as well as provides opportunities to make a difference in their community.

STRIKING THE CHORDS OF SUCCESS
Congratulations are in order to the Clinton High School Pep Band for once again being selected to perform at the MSHSAA 2024 State Basketball Championships in Columbia, MO!
The band will play on March 13th at the 4:00, 6:00, and 8:00 PM games in the Mizzou Arena.
A NEW LOOK AT CTS
Have you noticed the great new storage building behind Clinton Technical School?
This building was made possible because of a $400,000 grant awarded by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). This Missouri Area Career Center Opportunity (MACCO) Grant provided funding to enhance the state’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) capacity by providing more opportunities for CTE students while updating and modernizing career centers’ infrastructure and equipment.
So far, this grant has been used for the following projects at CTS:
- Installation of security gates to secure the back entrances to the school.
- Replacement of the school’s previous storage building with a new building that is three times the size.
- With more upgrades to come!
TAKING FLIGHT
Before Winter Break, 8th graders in Mr. Harp's Flight and Space class had the opportunity to test out the airplanes they created.
During this unit, students learned how important weight and balance is to flight, as well as all about field repairs.

WINTER WEATHER REMINDERS
Cold weather is here, which means it's the perfect time to do a quick refresher on how the district communicates school closures due to inclement weather!
- SOCIAL MEDIA-The first notification you will receive about a school closure will come from our district's social media pages (Facebook and Instagram).
- TEXT, EMAIL, APP, AND PHONE-This will quickly be followed by a text message, email, app notification and phone call. The successful delivery of this information is dependent upon accurate contact information obtained from school records. If your contact information changes, please let your child's school office know as soon as possible. Only those who have opted-in to receive text messages (text Y to 67587 from the cell number the district has on file for you), or those who have downloaded the district app (search for Clinton School District on your App Store or Google Play) will receive the text message and app notification.
- WEBSITE-This information will also be placed on our district webpage, www.clintoncardinals.org.
- NEWS MEDIA-The cancellation info will also be provided to KDKD and Kansas City news stations.
CHANGES TO WEBSITE
The district is making plans to undergo a website redesign. In preparation for this, some changes have been made on our current website that we wanted to make you aware of.
In the past, the district had a separate website for each building. Previously, these sites were accessed at the top of the page as seen in image 1 below.
Currently, the only website that is available from this drop-down menu is the Clinton Technical School. The other 5 buildings' info can be found underneath the "Our Schools" tab in the red banner (as seen in image 2). Here you will find building-specific information for each school.
If you have any questions, or are unable to locate something that you have in the past, please email alawson@clintoncardinals.org
EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION PROGRAM
The Cardinal Compliment program is a way for you to salute any Clinton School District employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you're a parent impressed with that special touch your child's teacher added to a moment, a coworker who thinks their colleague doesn't hear often enough about the great job they are doing, or a community member who witnesses a staff member’s commitment to kids - you can send a Cardinal Compliment!
Supervisors, including the superintendent, will see your submission. The employee will receive a certificate of gratitude and a token of appreciation that lets everyone know he or she was given a Cardinal Compliment.
Every month, Cardinal Compliment recipients will be listed on the district website and posted on the district Facebook page to let others know the names of the district's difference makers!
