Red Ribbon Campaign
District provided newsletters, updates, and guidance lessons were shared throughout the month of October. District generated conversation starters were sent home with all students and the month ended with a week of Red Ribbon guidance lessons through Jag Time.
On October 17th, the FMHS counseling department, with the support of administrators and student groups, hosted a Back the Heroes event to show support for our first responders. The FM police and fire departments work closely with LISD to provide rapid response in our schools and communities when needed. Our School Resource Officers (SRO's) work tirelessly forging relationships with staff and students in the schools they serve.
Parent University
The first Parent University of this school year was held on October 30th. The topic of the night was School Safety. The School Resource Officers spoke about current drug trends, and the school nurse, Leah Farquhar, covered the dangers of vaping. We also had Kim Muench speak about maintaining a healthy mind. Watch for additional Parent University opportunities in the future.
Suicide Prevention Lessons
On Wednesday, November 20th during JagTime, all students at FMHS will participate in a state mandated Suicide Prevention Lesson. The curriculum is educational based and not intended for therapeutic purposes.
If you wish for your child to OPT OUT of the presentation, you will need to completed the OPT OUT information at the bottom of the Parent Overview Form which is linked below. Completed, signed forms will need to be turned in to the counseling suite before Tuesday, November 19th.

Transcript Requests:
Submitting a transcript request the day prior or day of the deadline may result in your transcript being sent after the deadline due to the high volume of requests received in this time frame. Please request your transcripts up to two weeks prior to any deadline. Transcript requests are processed in the order they are received. Double check your pending application deadlines and plan accordingly. If your college application is through CommonApplication, please speak with your counselor about the transcript request. For all other college applications, including Apply Texas, transcript requests must be made through the district Scibbles account;

Letters of Recommendation:
When do you need a letter of recommendation? When your college application requires a letter of recommendation. Do not send letters of recommendation if the college application does not list it as required. A counselor letter of recommendation should only be requested if the application specifically requests a recommendation from a counselor. If the application requests an ACADEMIC letter of recommendation, you should secure this from a teacher who can speak to your performance and abilities in the classroom.
Please remember to be mindful of the 2 school week (does not include time on holiday breaks) time requirement between requesting a letter of recommendation, required documentation being received and the letter being completed.
Please remember transcripts are not sent and letters are not written during holiday breaks as registrars and counselors are also off during these times
