Are you interested in student leadership?

Student Council applications will be available to students in their grade level office starting Tuesday, August 8th.

The Georgia Association of Student Councils (GASC) is an organization dedicated to the development of student councils throughout Georgia. GASC provides opportunities for advisors and students to receive training while networking with one another, fostering ideas to serve schools and communities. Through GASC's annual events, councils learn and grow together by sharing these opportunities, fulfilling GASC's mission.

As students must be supervised on campus, the earliest students can be dropped off is 8:30 a.m.

Students dropped off at 8:30 a.m. will enter through the car-rider doors and report directly to the cafeteria for silent study hall. Students may work on school-related assignments or read silently between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. At 9:00 a.m., students will report to their homerooms.

While Couch Middle School is happy to provide an opportunity to support students and families with an early drop-off study hall, students who fail to adhere to the guidelines and expectations of the program will not be permitted to participate.

Ram Time is an extended learning class that provides students with an opportunity for remediation and/or enrichment. For non-Carnegie courses, Ram Time is a semester course that begins on Thursday, August 9th. 8th-grade yearlong Carnegie RT courses will start on Monday, August 7th.

Please help us build a strong learning community by supporting

the CMS Away For The Day Cell Phone Policy.

Students will NOT be allowed to carry their cell phone

on their person while at school. All cell phones will be

secured in each student’s book bag/backpack for the

whole day. Should a student be found using his/her

phone, the phone will be confiscated and "pouched".

Students may pick up pouched phones from the front

office at the end of the day. Bluetooth/wireless

earbuds/headphones will also not be allowed on the

premises.

• August 8th: Student Council Applications will be available in Grade Level Offices.

• August 9th: Last day for schedule changes.

• August 12th: Volleyball Tournament at Seckinger HS:

• 9:00 am vs. Lanier MS

• 12:00 pm v. Richards MS

• 2:00 pm vs. Jones MS

• August 14th-30th: iReady Diagnostic will be administered

• Ice Cream is sold every day for $1.00 during lunch.

For safety and consistency, all students will be required to wear a school-issued id during school hours. The ID will include the student’s full name, grade level, and mode of transportation.

CMS Student/Parent Handbook

We are excited to announce that our school district has adopted a new form of school-to-home communication called ParentSquare. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourages greater engagement and connection with your child’s school and Gwinnett County Public Schools.

ParentSquare provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to receive and send information, such as:

• Weather-related closings & delays
• School and class information
• Share pictures and files
• See calendar items
• Upcoming class activities

Beginning July 18, 2023, district and school information will be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text via ParentSquare. Download the ParentSquare app (free for iOS and Android devices) for even more convenience.
