Important Events and Reminders
Therapy Dog - Welcome Chip and his handler Megan
Several classrooms were able to meet Chip and his handler Megan this past week. We are looking forward to having them back at Winchester on November 1st to visit the rest of our classrooms.
If you have a student who is allergic or uncomfortable being around dogs, please let us know by filling out this form and they will be identified as a student who should not interact with the therapy dog. Please complete the form by Sunday, October 15th since his first visit will be on Monday, October 16th.
Meal Application
Don’t Scrap the App!
Completing the Application for Summer EBT and Education Benefits for Michigan School Meals Program may result in important resources for your student such as Summer EBT, fee waivers, and resources for classrooms! The Michigan School Meals program supplements the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program, meaning that parents of students who would otherwise be eligible for free or reduced meals should continue to submit applications for free or reduced meals for their students. Even though meals will be free this year, it is vitally important that parents who meet, or believe they may meet, the free and reduced income guidelines, submit an application to ensure maximum benefits for their students and the District.
Some of these benefits include: athletics and activities discounts for student fees associated with participating in athletics and activities programs, SAT/ACT/AP test discounts for academic testing, college application discounts for college application fees, discounted internet access services, federal/state/local school funding for school budgets, Summer EBT.
Make sure to fill yours out today https://links.northvilleschools.org/1a
Glow Week 10/26-10/31 - STEAM
Glow Week (10/26-10/31) in your child's STEAM Class
The elementary STEAM Teachers, in collaboration with Zap Zone and proudly powered by Northville Educational Foundation (NEF), are thrilled to announce Glow Week in the maker spaces! GLOW week will take place starting on Wed. October 25th and run through Tues. Oct. 31st. ZZ, the mascot from Zap Zone will be visiting our school on Wednesday, October 26. We're sure ZZ will get the kids fired up for all the fun activities they will participate in when they visit the maker space. The maker spaces will be illuminated by blacklights, so for a full GLOW experience please have your child wear white, fluorescent, or neon clothing on the day that they have STEAM during Glow Week.
STEAM - Needs toilet paper and paper towel tubes
The Winchester Maker Space/STEAM Classroom is in need of cardboard toilet paper and paper towel tubes.
These are items we use all year long. Please consider setting up a routine with your family to collect them at home and send them to school with your child (every month or so) to drop off at the Maker Space for STEAM classes.
Thank you so much for your help!!
