Volume 3 Edition 19, 1/22/2024
A Note from Dr. Miles
Good morning Parents and Guardians!
Hopefully, we can look forward to higher temperatures this week after freezing so much throughout last week. I'm sure the kids had a blast playing in the snow and making the best of the wintry white leftovers this weekend.
After seeing and hearing from some teachers, I must say that, the FID day on Friday went much smoother than the first. I am pleased that so many students were engaged on Zoom with their teachers and classmates. I appreciate your diligence to ensure that students were online, even through using other devices that suited students better than the Chromebooks for Zoom. It is encouraging for me to hear the positive information. For those of you who may have had difficulty with the Chromebooks or anything that may have contributed to your child being unable to get online for class, please let me know so we can troubleshoot the issues in case we have another FID day in the future.
For the remainder of the month of January, we will be conducting our mid-year assessments for reading and math. As such, we definitely want our students to show improvement from the beginning of the year. In order for them to show the improvement is based on their attention and focus on the assessments; doing their absolute best! While we will be encouraging them to work hard and staying focused, I am asking that you have the conversation with them to emphasize the importance of them doing their absolute best and giving it their all. I do appreciate your efforts and I know that the teachers will also.
**SPIRIT WEEK has been extended for two days due to the weather.**
MONDAY = 70'S day
TUESDAY = KHS Spirit Gear
Kind regards,
Dr. Miles
