Absences from School
Every day your child is absent from school you need to:
● Contact the school on 01977 682388 or email admin@mf.starmat.uk.
● Give a reason for the absence.
● Say when you expect your child will return to school.
● If your child has a medical appointment please provide any appointment
cards, prescriptions or documentation that might allow us to authorise
the absence on their return
Phoning school or sending an email does not authorise the absence. The school
must make that decision based upon the evidence we have.
Children In Need Friday 17th November.
Our school is excited to be joining many others around the UK in The Big BBC Children in Need Spotacular on Friday 17th November 2023. This year, the focus is on building and celebrating positive relationships. We will be taking part in spotty-themed fundraising activities throughout the day, including whole-school and in-class events. We are inviting the children to come to school in spotty outfits, but please think of the environment and creatively reuse something they already own. There will be prizes for the most Spotacular outfits!
On the day, each class will take it in turns in an attempt to cover Pudsey’s (giant) face with loose change, so please send in any spare coins you have at home. You can help us to make this a memorable event that raises as much money as possible, by:
• sending in loose change for our giant Pudsey coin collection
• giving a fancy dress donation of £1 payable through this link

Wraparound Provision Survey.
PTA 100 Club
School Calendar
Free school meals for all years for pupils whose families receive financial support.
If you are in receipt of certain benefits, your child could also qualify for free school meals during all school years. To qualify you must be receiving:
Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods (£616.67 per month)
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guarantee element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit, provided you are also not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual household gross income that does not exceed £16,190 (as assessed by HMRC)
Working Tax Credit run-on, paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Please note that contributions-based benefits, including contribution-related Jobseekers' Allowance do not entitle you to claim free school meals.
You will receive an instant decision on whether your application is successful. If it is, we will fully process the application in 5 working days and notify the school. Once the school has received this your child can begin enjoying free school meals. You should continue to pay until confirmation comes through. Schools may be able to arrange reimbursement of payment made while your entitlement is being confirmed.
Free school meals claims cannot be backdated. They are awarded from the date we receive the application, once eligibility is confirmed. This is because there is a legal requirement for a request to be made, before a free school meal can be provided. If you are not entitled to free school meals, you will be notified in writing.
