Eastern NC Regional Skills Center (ENCRSC) Monthly News
November Edition
November is National Career Development Month!
All month long we will be celebrating Career Development and the awesome opportunities available to our students at the Eastern NC Regional Skills Center! Discovering career interests in classroom activities, clinicals to explore local career options, job shadows for students who have signed up, and guest speakers in our CTE courses are just a few things students can expect to see, not just in November, but all year long!
Our students at the Skills Center have OPTIONS and we want them to know all of them! Keep an eye on our social media sites to see all the great updates, career information, and cool career things our students are doing next month!
If you have questions or have a student who might be interested in furthering career skills here at the Skills Center, please encourage them to reach out to Emily Humphrey, at emily.humphrey@onslow.k12.nc.us.

π’ Faculty SPOTLIGHT π’
MEET Mrs. Kendra Hobbs, RN
Welcome! I am the Nursing Fundamentals Instructor. I have over nine years of experience and knowledge in nursing that I will be sharing with my students who have an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. After successfully completing Nursing Fundamentals and Practicum, you will be eligible to obtain your nurse aide certificate. This certificate will allow you to begin working as a Nurse Aide I and can be a great stepping stone to any medical related career goal one may have. I hope to encourage and help each student develop an interest in a healthcare field that fits them as the unique person that they are. By doing this students will be able to feel confident in their endeavor to achieve their career goal. I have high standards for my students and my hope is that when they leave my program, they feel confident and knowledgeable with a firm foundation that they will be able to build upon in the years to come. I feel honored and look forward to teaching the future generation of healthcare workers!

π¨ PARENT TIP π¨
βοΈπ COMMUNICATION πβοΈ
The importance of communication between school and home cannot be overstated. Research shows that students with engaged families earn higher grades and test scores, adapt more quickly, attend school more regularly, have better behavior and social skills, and go on to graduate at higher rates. Parents who have an idea of what is happening in the classroom are better equipped to help their students succeed and can align learning at home with learning at school.
Linked below are the webpages for each teacher here at the Skills Center. Please feel free to communicate with your child's teacher via email or you may reach them by calling 910.989.2020. We are all in this together for the success of each student!
