GMS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 8, 2023
Good Afternoon Wolf Pack Families,
December is a month where many of our families celebrate religious observances. I am wishing each and every family who observe during this time, a blessed and joyous occasion. Enjoy your time with family and friends.
It was a really nice week at school. It is hard to believe that we have already finished the first 16 weeks of school! Progress Reports are now available in Skyward Family Access. This is a great opportunity for you to see how your student is progressing in each of their classes. Please consider having a conversation with your student on areas where they are excelling and areas where they may need to improve. There are still 4 weeks left of the 2nd marking period to make positive academic strides in each class.
Next week, students will be taking their 2nd iReady Diagnostic. It is very important that students are in school, on time and are prepared with the proper materials and mindset to have optimal success. Please take the time to read the important details in the newsletter. With your help, I am confident that we are going to have great results from our students!
Wishing all of our Wolf Pack Community a fantastic weekend!
Sincerely,
Stuart Riley
Principal, Geisler Middle School

iReady-Diagnostic 2
On December 12 and 14 our entire school will be taking their second of three iReady Diagnostics in ELA and Math this school year. iReady Diagnostics are used for two purposes: iReady results help to determine how our teaching staff can guide their instruction to help all students in remediation, pace of current content or enrichment opportunities. iReady uses the results from your student's answers to create lessons specifically designed for each child in order to improve their math and reading skills. It is VERY important that all students attend on both days and give their best effort.
It is critical that students charge their laptops the night before each Diagnostic
Students should get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast
Students should bring headphones that connect to their laptop device
Please have your child arrive to school on time each day
Please speak to your student about giving their best effort on both Diagnostics.

Sports Update
Boys Basketball had a great week! Both teams competed against Centennial Middle School on Monday and played well. Our 6th & 7th grade team won, way to go! The teams also competed against White Lake Middle School on Wednesday. 6th and 7th grade won again! Great job! Also, a shout out to our 8th grade team. They fought hard, but didn’t win. Next week the teams are away on Wednesday against Clifford Smart. Come out and cheer them on if you can!
Please note, whether it is a home or away game, students wishing to attend the game as a spectator, MUST be accompanied by an adult during the entire game (students may not be dropped off).
Go Wolves!

Weekend Food Program-Hospitality House
Supporting and caring for our students in any way possible is our mission at GMS. Geisler MS recently partnered with Hospitality House Food Pantry in Walled Lake to bring the Weekend Food Program to our students. If you are a family that could use a little extra help with meals on the weekends, please let your child’s counselor know. Your child’s name will be held confidential. The Weekend Food Program would provide approximately 6 meals and snacks for your student on the weekend. The food would be distributed to your student in a discreet bag or backpack for them to take home each Friday. There is no cost to participate in the program. To optimize a student’s success at school starts with students having enough to eat. Please see the attached flyer for more information about the Weekend Food Program. If you are interested in having your student participate, please contact your student’s counselor Ann Marie Rutherford (Counselor for 6th Grade Students (A-L) and ALL 8th Grade Students) annmarierutherford@wlcsd.org or 248-956-2917 or Amanda Hart (6th Grade Students (M-Z) and ALL 7th Grade Students) amandahart@wlcsd.org or 248-956-2916.
