Jefferson Elementary

With the unseasonably warm weather we are enjoying there are a few things we would love for students to have to be prepared to be comfortable:

* Send a spare pair of socks & shoes to change into in case their pair gets wet or muddy

* Dress in layers so students can adjust what they have on as the temperature changes throughout the day

* A spare outfit in case they go down a slide or land in the grass and get wet and muddy

Hi! My name is Carli Gasaway and I am a second-year student in the Professional School Counseling master's program at MNSU. I will be at Jefferson on Thursday afternoons as a school counseling intern and I will be connecting with students. I am also placed at Dakota Meadows Middle School and East High School in Mankato. I currently live in Mankato with my fluffy cat, Moe. I am excited to get to know your student!

Kelly Solomon our Student Success Coach for over 10 years has decided to pursue other professional adventures. We want to thank Kelly for all that she did to contribute to students, staff and families experience at Jefferson. We will miss her but we wish her well!!! Kelly's last day at Jefferson was Jan. 26th.

I am excited to announce that we have received a donation from Mayo Clinic for wellness at ALL of our elementary buildings. At Jefferson, we used this donation to purchase 4 scooters to encourage outdoor physical activity. We are grateful for this donation that provided this resource for our students. A special thank you to Mrs. Kroehler and Mrs. Jirak who put in extra time to order the scooters. Students enjoyed the sunshine and test running the scooters this week. Check out photos below!

During their lunch some 4th and 5th Graders choose to participate in a fun literacy promoting activity put together by our Media Specialist Ms. Stenzel. Students had the opportunity to read a variety of books and then challenges teams with different trivia questions connected to the books.

It was so wonderful to see so many families from both Bridges and Jefferson make it out to the Blue Earth County Library to participate in our Achievement and Integration event. Families enjoyed pizza, table top activities and even button making! It was a great way to make connections with each other and to literacy.

A quick reminder that our next Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the Jefferson Media Center. Your presence and input are highly valued as we discuss upcoming events.
