Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. Lakeville North – January 12, 2023
The Lightning and the Panthers played an evening matched highly entertaining game on Thursday evening at Ames Arena. The game was scoreless into the 3rd period, with Eastview leading in shots on goal 25-13 after two periods. The Panthers broke the scoreless tie at 8:56 of the 3rd period on a fluke goal that was tipped on its way to goalie Jay Svaren #32, who made a move to stop the puck when it was suddenly redirected into an open net. It was going to take some puck luck to break the tie, and unfortunately Lakeville North broke the seal first. The momentum gained from that first goal pushed the Panthers to take a 2-0 lead at 15:21, making the final score 2-0. The Panthers out shot the Lightning 12-8 in the 3rd period, making the final shots for the game 33-25 in favor of Eastview. Eastview fell to 7-5 on the season, unfortunately making it 3 straight games without scoring a goal and three straight losses. After this tough loss the Lightning square off next vs. the Apple Valley Burnsville Eagles on Saturday at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. Minnetonka – January 10, 2023
The Lightning squared off against the Skippers from Minnetonka Tuesday evening January 10th at the Apple Valley Sports Arena. The Skippers, a top 5 ranked team in the state, were impressive. The Skippers scored a 1st period goal on the power play (PP) at 8:24 on a lively rebound off the end board making it 1-0. Shots for the first period were 15-6 in favor of Minnetonka. The Skippers scored the only goal of the 2nd period, an even strength tipped goal in from of goalie Jay Svaren #32 at 11:25. Shots for the 2nd period were 13-6, again in favor of Minnetonka. The Lightning battled hard the entire game, this was just an 0-2 game through 2 ½ periods. Goalie Say Svaren #32 was keeping Eastview in the game. The Skippers scored a PP goal at 11:48 of the 3rd period, making it 0-3, after Lightning goalie Jay Svaren #32 had made several spectacular saves. The third goal of the game seemed to break the spirit of the Lightning, and the Skippers added two more goals making the final score 0-5. Final shots for the game were 43-15 in favor of Minnetonka. The Lightning fell to 7-4 on the season, and face Lakeville North Panthers on Thursday January 12, 2023.
The EVHS Wrestling team had a busy week last week with 8 dual meets! Nolan Enderlein, Ezra Formaneck and Ethan Dupont went undefeated. Alex Baccoli went 7 and 1 and Aiden Enderlein earned 6 wins. Congratulations to all the wrestlers on their hard work and success!
