Once again, Leonardtown Elementary students will be participating in the American Heart Association (AHA) Kid Heart Challenge. Students learn about the importance of exercise to keep the heart muscle strong while having fun and practicing their jump-roping skills. Donations are collected electronically as a fundraiser for the AHA.

The Jump Rope Skills Challenge happens during PE classes between Feb. 12th and 16th. Donations are accepted until February 23rd.

The Spring Games will be held at St. Mary’s Ryken High School this year on April 4, 2024. The

rain date for the event is April 5, 2024.

Registration forms must be completed and submitted by February 23rd for student participants. Details are in the letter linked below.

Ms. Litten will be hosting an after-school Volleyball Club for interested students in Grades 3, 4 and 5. The club will meet afterschool beginning in March. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Classic Photography helps publish the Leonardtown Elementary School Yearbook.

The cost for a yearbook is $20, plus tax and a convenience fee.

Orders close on April 15th.

You can purchase "Love Lines" (a personal printed message) for an additional fee. The deadline for submitting this is March 1st.

We have recently received several inquiries about birthday treats. As has been the practice for several years, edible birthday treats (like cupcakes) are not distributed. This is in response to an increase in recognized food allergies and the need to exercise caution in this regard.

Parents who are choosing to share a treat with their child's class as part of birthday celebrations have been asked to consider non-food items and notify the teacher if a "treat" is being provided to distribute. Here are some non-food items that you could consider if you are hoping to share something with the class:

• "Slap" bracelets
• Trading cards
• Color-click pens
• Pop-its, Figit spinners and the like
• Smencils (scented pencils)

If you have questions about classroom treats, your child's classroom teacher is probably be the best source for information.

We are so excited for our Valentine MVP Dance on Friday, Feb. 9! But to make sure the event is a success, we need your help. We still have several spots open for volunteer support on the day of the event. Please sign up for a time slot here.
