Parent Communicator February 2024
Mission
21st Century Primary Center is committed to high-quality education for every student, every day.
Vision
21st Century School is a place where all learners feel safe and valued for their strengths and weaknesses. The whole child is considered in our planning. We support all students at their unique levels by providing engaged learning opportunities, differentiated instruction, and opportunities for critical thinking.
Core Values
Respect, Collaboration, Data-driven, Nurturing
Black History Month begins February 1st and gives educators a salient opportunity to celebrate the contributions of Black Americans to our nation’s past, present, and future. From the arts to the sciences, to the progress our country has made toward building an equitable society, Black Americans have overcome tremendous obstacles to chart some of our country’s most significant advancements.
As parents and as educators, we have a responsibility to engage and cultivate the interest of Black History through inclusive curricula not just in February but year-round.
Reading Strategy for the Month of February
Reading Logs
Please make sure your students is reading nightly. Have your student complete the reading log and turn it in to their classroom teacher so they can get their credit.
5 Essentials Survey
WHAT IS THE 5 ESSENTIALS SURVEY?
The 5Essentials Survey identifies five indicators that lead to improved outcomes for all students, including improved attendance and larger test score gains.
The five indicators that positively affect school success are:
- Effective Leaders
- Collaborative Teachers
- Involved Families
- Supportive Environments
- Ambitious Instruction
The 5Essentials Survey usually requires no more than 30 minutes to complete. The information collected through the survey is rigorously reviewed and analyzed to generate a 5Essentials Report for each school. The 5Essentials Report provides a comprehensive picture of the school environment based on five essential areas critical for school improvement in a meaningful context of similar and successful schools.
The survey is another improvement tool that allows districts and the state to share data as a means to inform parents and community members about the school’s learning environment. The Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education.
Click the link below for the survey. It will also be shared on all of our social media platforms. Please help our school out by completing the survey. We will also have computes set up in the front of the school for those that may need access to technology.
