Easley Weekly Update
Everything You Need to Know for the coming week.
April 24, 2022
a note from the principal
Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our Earth Day at Easley! I hated missing it but was on my last day of Covid quarantine. My parents came to visit at the end of last week and unknowingly brought Covid with them! My mom had very mild symptoms and just thought she had allergies like she gets every year, as she is vaccinated and boosted and always very careful. My father, husband, and I all ended up testing positive as well. Needless to say it was not the visit we had intended upon but I am grateful we all had a relatively mild case of it. Let this be a lesson for all of us to be extra mindful of even the slightest symptoms, and when in doubt, stay home and take a test. We've been fortunate not to have an uptick in cases at Easley and I'm hopeful we will be able to maintain this trend by sticking to the Covid protocols.
The Book Fair is Here
We’re excited to host our upcoming Bedford Falls Book Fair. This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our library. Since it is a different company, things will be a little different than in the Fall. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair:
- The fair will take place from April 25th- 29th during school hours. During the week, shopping will be “student only” due to COVID restrictions but videos, pictures and information about the book fair will be posted to this folder. The link will also be posted to our website, social media, and Bloomz the week of the fair so you can have the virtual experience of shopping with your child. The folder will include videos, teacher wish list info, general pricing, and more.
- The company has a pre-authorization credit card program you can use for your child for payment or send in cash of check made to Easley PTA. For pre-authorization, parents can create an account on this website https://www.bedfordfallsusa.com/for-parents/ and select an amount for their child to use. Our school code is EE8. The amount will go as a hold on the credit card and when the child shops the amount they spend (up to the amount you chose) will go through as the official amount charged. Students can only use the pre-authorization ONCE. If you would like them to spend additional funds you can add another pre-authorization. The last day to do that will be April 28th.

Durham Bulls Drawing Contest
Easley has been given the opportunity by the Durham Bulls for a fun arts challenge! Students can draw the players from the batting lineup for a chance to have their drawing to be displayed on the screen when that player comes to bat. Each class will be assigned a player according to THIS slideshow. (Larger photos and spare drawing paper also available HERE) Students in the class should only draw the player they are assigned to. Drawings must be on the paper provided by their teacher and done with crayons, markers or colored pencils (free drawn, not traced). ALL DRAWING ARE DUE WEDNESDAY April 27th. The must be turned into Ms. Galgano, who will have an envelope outside her door.
The Bulls will use our drawings for the next 3 Sunday home games- May 1st, May 15th, and May 29th. They will send a list of what drawings they select for each game and will provide a ticket for each of the 30 students who are selected! However, the May 1st game is so soon after the deadline that any students who are selected for that game will have their tickets for the next week’s game. Ms. Hartley will be attending the May 1st game and take videos and pics for those students.
Additionally, the reading promotion ended on Wednesday April 20th. Ticket vouchers for a Sunday home game will hopefully be delivered the first week of May to the students that completed the program. Contact caroline_hartley@dpsnc.net with questions.
ACTION NEEDED: Please Update Back to School Information for the 2022-2023
It’s time to update your student’s information and get ready for the 2022-23 school year. Now you can complete all of your back-to-school paperwork online quickly, easily, and securely. This is a great way to update your contact information, fill out forms, and stay connected with your school.
https://www.dpsnc.net/Page/4734
This is very important to complete, as your child’s bus transportation depends on you filling out this back to school information. Current transportation routes will not carry over to next year so it is important you provided updated information for the 2022-2023 school year. Please complete this information as soon as possible.
