Satellite Safety Reminders
We want to ensure the safety of all our students during car rider drop-off and pick-up times. Please review these three important safety reminders.
- Stay in your car while in the satellite line. If you need to buckle your students, kindly pull up and off to the side near the dumpsters to avoid blocking the flow of traffic.
- Do not pass/go around other vehicles as this can create confusion and potential hazards.
- Have your students ready to exit or enter the car swiftly to maintain the smoothness of the process.
Your cooperation in following these guidelines is vital for the safety of everyone. Thank you for your attention and understanding.
Groundhog Day - February 2nd
This Friday marks the 137th Groundhog Day at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Thousands gather to await Phil's forecast. If he sees his shadow, it's six more weeks of winter; if not, expect an early spring. Even though he’s been forecasting since 1887, Phil’s track record for the entire country isn’t perfect. On average, Phil has gotten it right 40% of the time over the past 10 years.
Let's see if Dent Dolphins are better forecasters than Punxsutawney Phil. Vote below on whether we're in for more winter or an early spring!
Do you think the groundhog will see his shadow on Friday?
Science Lessons with Supervisor Hayes
We welcomed Mr. Jason Hayes, our SMCPS Science Supervisor, to LMDES! He worked with our fifth graders to prepare for the upcoming Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) and engaged our second graders in a fun STEM challenge – building spaghetti towers. Thanks to Mr. Hayes for his expertise and valuable contributions to our science programs!
