Dear Pawnee Families,
Dear Pawnee Families,
October brings many family events. Please mark your calendars for the many opportunities to have fun with your children and also for the important academic conferences.
We are seeking donated bags of candy for our Trunk-O-Treat event, Oct. 19th.
Our next parent night will be Parent-Teacher Conferences, Oct. 25 & 26. If you do not have a time to meet with your child's teacher, please call the school this week to get that set up.
Parent Teacher Conferences will also be when we distribute new ipads to all 1st to 5th graders. Bring in the old ipad and you will be given the new replacement ipad.
Also, on Oct. 31st, we will hold a costume parade at 3:15. Families may line our sidewalks to wave at our kids in costumes. Students will return to their classrooms for cookies and juice before dismissal.
There is no school for students on Nov. 1, 2023.
Respectfully,
Cheryl Prine

Superintendent Search Staff and Community Forums
Superintendent Search Staff and Community Forums Our Superintendent Search moves forward this fall with more opportunities for you to participate. Input from the students, staff and families we serve is an essential part of this work. Community Forums Between Sept. 28 and Oct. 4, our district will host 12 community forums to gather input on our districtβs strengths, opportunities, and the qualifications of an ideal future superintendent. The Board will host these in partnership with our superintendent search firm. Ten forums will be held in person and two of them virtually. There is at least one forum in each Board of Education subdistrict, with options during the day, evening and weekend. Multiple locations are accessible by public transit. Bilingual liaisons will be available at each forum. Staff forums are intended for Omaha Public Schools employees. If a staff member cannot attend one of those forms, they are welcome to attend a community forum. Second Survey Window In late September, the second of two survey windows opens for our community. Questions will be the same from the May 2023 survey, also asking about our school districtβs strengths, opportunities and the qualifications of an ideal future superintendent. The survey will again be available in multiple languages. They include English, Spanish, Somali, Nepalese and Burmese. Responses are anonymous. Once the survey is live, we will email a link directly to all staff, families and high school students. The link will also be posted on the homepage of all school and district websites. Your answers will guide our Board of Educationβs work through the recruitment, application and selection process. That timeline is available on ops.org/superintendentsearch. If you have ideas, feedback, questions or concerns, you can always contact Board of Education members.
