Message from Principal Phelan
Greeting Lowell Families,
Field Day couldn't have been better! Ms. Donahue and Ms. Loguidici's planning proved to be perfectly executed; each activity and event ran smoothly. The students had a day they will never forget. It's experiences like Friday that kids carry with them for a lifetime. It was terrific to welcome families to his joy-filled event. I loved watching the students cheering each other on during events. The best was watching how each class never stopped cheering until the last student crossed the finish line.
The staff kickball game was a blast. I think all of Watertown could hear our students cheering for their teachers.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped make Field Day a success. A special shout out to the masters of ceremonies, Ms. Donahue and Ms. Lugidici!
We are happy to announce that the school department will provide all school supplies for no cost to families. During the pandemic, the District provided materials for students and we have made the decision (across the three elementary schools) to continue with this practice. We hope this makes things easier for our families and students!
Sincerely,
Stacy

Library Update for June by Kelly McCollum
Why We Teach Computer Skills in Library Class...
A frequently asked question is why do we do computer science in a library class? The answer is quite simple, learning in library class is about more than reading books. It is, also, about information management. In library class, K-5, we learn about searching for information, managing information, using information, and presenting what we learned from our information. In our 21st-century classroom, this usually involves some type of electronic tool. Starting with what makes a computer a computer to how we can stay safe, ensuring our data is private and the Google suite of tools, students experience using these tools in library class becoming sophisticated searchers of information and creating high-quality digital artifacts to show their learning.
Scenes From Field Day
Message From Lily Read
I wanted to say a massive, huge, overwhelming THANK YOU for your amazing organizing of the Lowell School Field Day. I got to hang out for a while watching, and I cannot believe how incredibly well organized and joyful the entire day was. The music was upbeat (Kidz Bop?) and the spirit of FUN was in the air. It has been so long since many of our kids really got to let loose, and you provided the perfect forum for it.
It was clear how much hard work and energy it took to pull off such a complex event, and it was run perfectly- your work is so, so appreciated, and Rusty came home saying "this was the best day EVER".
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
