Principal's Message
Dear Adelante Selby Spanish Immersion Families,
I hope everyone is doing well! Please help me to welcome Mayra (Mimi) Oseguera who has been hired as our new Office Assistant(see photos below). I know she will do a great job. Her first day will be this Wednesday, March 22nd. Here's a short Bio she wrote for the Newsletter:
Hello my name is Mayra Alejandra though many know me as "Mimi". I was born and raised in Redwood City. I went to Hawes Elementary, then attended Selby Lane and graduated from Woodside High School. I also attended Cañada College and started my ECE career. I worked alongside my mom for 20 years in the day care business.I am passionate about my family. I have been married for over 20 years. I am very close to my parents , my siblings and I love spending time with my children. I have 4 children; which the oldest attended Selby Lane, second oldest attended Adelante Selby and currently have a 5th and Kinder attending Adelante Selby.
I will often be the "soccer mom" for my children or niece's teams. I will also be the "Folklórico dance mom" who helps with makeup touch ups, hair pieces and outfit changes. When I am not busy with my children's soccer games, dance practices or performances I enjoy cooking, baking, movies, music, dancing, and traveling.
I look forward to supporting and helping everyone: students, parents, teachers and staff!
As you know, Parent Teacher conferences are this week with Early Dismissal days at 1:25 (TK at 12:45). Please remember the earlier pick up time at 1:25 PM for transportation purposes and so your child does not have to wait a long time for pick up. 2nd Trimester Progress Reports/Report Cards have been mailed and we included the iReady Reading reports for 2nd-5th grades.

March is Women's History Month and highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. This year's theme for Women's History Month is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.” Our wonderful Librarian Diane Ocon has been using the Women's History Museum slide deck with classes as they come into the Library this month. Another good resource to check out at home for Women's History Month is on our district approved App BrainPop. Please take a few moments to use these resources with your family at home.

Child Nutrition Services: Breakfast and Lunch Menus
A healthy body fosters a healthy and focused mind. Well-rounded meals served in RCSD school cafeterias are created using USDA nutrition guidelines as well as “kid-approved” recipes. Whole grains, milk, fresh produce, protein, and healthy fats containing Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids are the stars of the breakfast and lunch menu items. Studies show that good eating habits and healthy behaviors are connected to academic achievement. Meals provided by Child Nutrition Services help to shape lifelong healthy habits. All students have the opportunity to eat breakfast and lunch for free again this year through our Child Nutrition Services.
