A Note from the Principal
Dear Audubon Families,
Welcome to Spring!
We had a great turnout for Literacy Night! So many families worked together to “Escape the School”. It was great to see families working together to solve the riddles and figure out the clues. Thank you to our amazing families that helped make this night so successful, as well as our amazing staff. We also enjoyed having so many families participate in our One School, One Book this year. The students truly enjoyed the Lemonade War, and so many nightly responses were posted! We are looking forward to a few more events this year so watch for more information.
All Audubon parents/guardians are invited to participate in the 2022-2023 BPS Parent Survey. The survey will be available February 27th through March 10th. The purpose of this survey is to provide Brevard Public Schools with information that will help identify areas of strengths and areas in need of additional attention. Ultimately, the data obtained will be used to improve our level of service to students, parents, and the community through School Improvement Plans and the District Strategic Plan. The survey is available at: https://www.brevardschools.org/2023ParentSurvey
A quick reminder that Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 12th. Remember: Clocks spring forward one hour! Spring Break begins on Monday, March 13th and runs through Friday, March 17th. Please note that Monday, March 20th is a teacher workday - no school for students.
Have a wonderful break and remember to take time to rest, relax, and enjoy the little things.

Kindness Week
VPK purchased puzzle books to take to take to the residents at Westminster Asbury and Solaris.
Kindergarten Courtenay Springs Nursing Home in Merritt Island. We collected some donations such as socks, deodorant, candies, etc. from our Kindergarten families. Other donations were purchased from the funds provided by PTO. Kindy students also created sweet cards for residents there. It was a great opportunity and experience for us, our families, and our kids to spread kindness to our community :)
First grade decided to collect snacks and drinks for the Brevard County Sheriff's office again this year. They used the PTO money to purchase additional snacks and drinks and then delivered them to the precinct.
Second grade was extremely proud to collect items and donations for the Brevard Humane Society!
With some help from Ms. Wessinger, 3rd grade was able to collect all these goodies for the Women’s Center of Brevard. So proud of all the generosity!
Fourth grade donated a lunch to our local Fire Dept. Fire house 42 which is right around the corner from Audubon. They received pizzas, a ton of soda, snacks, and a ‘Thank You’ cake. The firefighters were extremely happy with our kindness. They look forward to this day every year!
Fifth grade collected hygiene items and monetary donations for the House of Hope in Merritt Island. Mrs. Higgins had her art club make cards to go with the items.
Sixth Grade made beautiful banners and donated their money to the Veteran's Memorial.

Eat Lunch With Your Student
Parents and Families,
I am happy to share some good news with you. Starting on Friday, September 16th, and every Friday after that, you will be able to eat lunch with your child(ren). Here is what you need to do if you want to eat lunch with your child:
- Make sure you notify your child’s teacher that you are eating lunch with them, so they can meet you at the tables. If you send an email, please do so in enough time for the teacher to see it before lunch.
- Only Parents and Legal Guardians can eat lunch with their own child(ren).
- Sign in as a Visitor in the Front Office and obtain a yellow name badge (you are not volunteering; you are visiting for lunch).
- You will report to the courtyard and wait on your child. The teacher will release your child to this area when he/she is taking his/her students to lunch.
- This area will be supervised during the entire lunch period.
- If you are not a registered volunteer, you will need to be escorted on and off campus by a staff member.
Every Friday will be available for parent/child lunch. We have limited seating, so you need to sign up through sign-up genius. The link for that is below:

Once again, I am happy to share this news with you. I look forward to seeing you and your child enjoy lunch together on Fridays!
Sincerely,
Candace Jones
