A Note from Dr. Brown
Greetings Parents and Guardians!
You did it! Since YOU crushed our goal of $15,000 in our fundraiser, guess what??? Your Administrators will camp out on the lawn Monday morning! You will see us Monday morning in our tents. A promise is a promise! You delivered, and so will we. See you in the car rider lane!
These are a couple of gentle reminders:
Please remember to be courteous to staff and to other drivers when dropping your students off in the car rider lane. It is so important to follow instructions to keep all safe.
When eating lunch with your child, please exit through the front doors, NOT the side doors, so that you can be properly checked out.
I know we can count on you to continue to create a safe and loving environment here at Woodward Mill! You all are the best! Thanks for all you do!
*Special thanks to our Woodward Mill PTA for bringing in Freddie the Falcon for a “SACK the TEST” pep rally. It was great to coordinate academics and fun! Our PTA does a lot for our school and we are grateful!
Have a Wonderful and Safe Weekend!
Your Principal,
Dr. Brown

Spotlight on wOMEN'S History Month
I Am Ruby Bridges by Ruby Bridges
A personal look through a child’s eyes at a momentous day in civil rights history, this book shares young Ruby’s experience integrating an elementary school in 1960, in her own words.
March 1-31, 2023
Our Read Across America celebration continues throughout the month of March! During this month, encourage your child to read and log at least 300 minutes!
Students will login to Beanstack using their GCPS student number and their birthday month and date (MMDD) as their password. Students are able to log reading minutes either on their laptop or on a mobile device.
Refer to the media center link of the school website for helpful resources to get your child started with Beanstack. Contact Jennifer.Alden@gcpsk12.org if you have any questions about this digital reading program.
College and Career Week: March 27-31
It’s never too early to think about the future! During College and Career Week, students will learn about different college and career options. We will also have daily themes Tuesday- Friday.
Tuesday: Our Cubs are College Bound! Wear a college shirt.
Wednesday: Our Future is Bright! Wear bright colors and/or sunglasses.
Thursday: Dress as your future career.
Friday: Dress for Success! Dress in professional clothing for College and Career Day!
We still need a few more volunteers! We would love for you to come to our College and Career Day, March 31st from 8:30am-10:30am. This day will give students the opportunity to learn about nearby colleges and careers from individuals that can speak first-hand about their daily experiences. No book can teach them that! Please email Chavonne O’Rear at chavonne.orear@gcpsk12.org for more information or to volunteer.
Character Trait of the Month
Each month, we focus on a different character trait. The character trait for the month of March is Cooperation. Cooperation means working together kindly to get a job done. Teachers will be looking for students that exhibit this trait during March to be recognized as the “Cub of the Month” with a certificate and free ice cream!
