Holy Ghost Catholic School
ADMISSIONS UPDATE
Holy Ghost Catholic School Families,
As many of you already know, St. Pius High School has now announced the opening of 6th and 7th grade. This did not come as a shock, as St. Pius communicated their expansion plans to the principals of the Archdiocesan Schools a couple of years ago. We understand the choices that brought St. Pius to this decision. I wanted to take a moment and address this change from Holy Ghost’s perspective.
Holy Ghost is an extraordinary place. We will continue our mission to serve our community and maintain a family feeling, coupled with a rigorous curriculum that has been carried out for decades. As a result of an abundance of years of experience, our staff has the expertise to understand middle school students and the struggles that often accompany this age group. Our small class sizes allow for middle school students to socially mature in a safe environment. Our staff strives to help students navigate the successes and missteps of the tween years, with the goal of preparing them for the challenges they will face as teens. The middle school teachers we have are dedicated to our students’ success and have high expectations, while also understanding what a fragile time the middle school/early teen years are. They are a phenomenal team who collaborate weekly to create cross curricular instruction. Because we have small classes, teachers are able to give students individualized, differentiated instruction for a more personalized learning experience. Our entire faculty works with each student to ensure that they are meeting student needs and give ample opportunities for one on one learning.
The reading, math, science, and religion curriculums at Holy Ghost are scaffolded. Every year is structured, beginning in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. The programs begin with a firm framework of foundational skills and build upon themselves with every grade completed. They have been recognized as some of the best curriculums available and have proven to be successful. Next year, we will be expanding our curriculum with a middle school study skills class, as well as an advisory period, where students can meet with their teachers to address areas of need. Holy Ghost will continue to offer our students learning opportunities off-campus for a hands-on, real life experience. With a complete pre-k-8th grade foundation, many Holy Ghost graduates have excelled in metro area schools by graduating in the top ten and receiving merit scholarships.
Holy Ghost will continue to provide a complete pre-k-8th grade education, while also taking into consideration financial struggles families often face. We will keep our tuition at the lowest cost we can, while continuing to offer tuition assistance, as well as military, multiple student, pay in full, and early enrollment discounts. We want our tuition to be comparable to other Catholic schools in the diocese and plan to continue using the free lunch program to help alleviate lunch costs for families.
Factors to consider for Holy Ghost Families:
Affordable Catholic Curriculum $5,712.00 per year, with free lunch
Low Student/Teacher ratio 13:1
No-cut sports and extracurricular activities; including guitar, ukulele, choir, cheer and chess
Less distractions from a high school environment
Priority prep and placement into Catholic High School
P.E., Computer Science, Library, Spanish, Art, Music classes offered multiple times a week
Supervised before and after school care
The SPX Head of School spoke at the latest Archdiocesan principal meeting. He reassured us that all Catholic school 8th grade students, as rising freshmen, will always remain a priority when filling seats for high school at SPX. Holy Ghost will continue to set the bar high with academic excellence to prepare our students for the next level. We will continue to work with our students to help them grow academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially.
Please feel free to make an appointment with me if you would like to discuss this matter further.
In Christ,
Mrs. Dominguez-Chávez
