Statement from Dr. Parkinson
Chester Waterfront Shooting The Chester Upland School District community is deeply saddened by an unfortunate incident that took place at the waterfront on Sunday night, which potentially resulted in the injury of some of our students. Our thoughts and prayers are with the impacted students and their families during this difficult time. This incident has greatly impacted not only our schools but the entire community. We recognize the need for support and are committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure the well-being and recovery of our students. Counseling services will be made available at Chester High School and STEM Academy starting Tuesday, May, 30. Trained professionals will be on-site to offer emotional support, guidance, and assistance to students and staff who may need it. If there are students who are directly impacted by this incident in our primary grades and middle schools, I ask that you contact your child's counselor or building administrator to make them aware. We urge our entire school community, including students, parents, and staff, to come together during this challenging time. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to law enforcement, emergency responders, and all individuals involved in the immediate response to this incident. Their swift action and dedication are invaluable to the well-being and safety of our students. We will continue to work closely with community partners, families, and students to ensure that everyone feels supported during this difficult time. Dr. Craig L. Parkinson Superintendent, Chester Upland School District
