***Free School Supplies***
If your student would benefit from these supplies, please contact Mrs. Gotfried or Mrs. Hargrave and they will make sure to have one set aside for you.
In conjunction with the Beaverton Education Foundation (BEF) and other community partners, we are attempting to raise funds to buy supplies for 16,000 Success Kits. If successful, these kits will be distributed to every student in our district who qualifies for free or reduced lunch during the first week of September. Distribution will occur at your home school; we’re working out the details of how to distribute to FLEX Online students. If you qualify, hold off on buying your school supplies.
As we get closer to starting the hybrid model, we will have teachers let you know about additional items that would be helpful in the hybrid setting.

Community Resources
Meal Service for Students
We have just received waivers from the USDA which allow any child (age 1-18) to pick up free meals.
Here’s a look at how meals will be distributed this fall:
- Parents or guardians may pick up meals for students who are not present.
- Meal pickups will occur two days per week: Tuesday (2 days of food) and Thursday (3 days of food) from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Meals will be packaged with breakfast and lunch together.
- Masks must be worn by anyone picking up meals.
Curbside Grab-and-Go School Sites:
Free Food Boxes
Since March, in conjunction with our community partnerships, BSD has facilitated the distribution of 17,300 food boxes to Beaverton families. We plan to support those efforts for as long as possible.
Our partner Pacific Coast Fruit Company will continue to distribute food boxes at Aloha High School on Wednesdays from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. The company has two additional distribution locations within our district: St. Cecilia Church (Tuesdays at 2 p.m.) and Beaverton Foursquare Church (Thursdays at 9 a.m.).
In addition, our community partner Urban Gleaners will continue to distribute food boxes at Vose Elementary (Mondays at 11 a.m.).
If you’d like to support our efforts to address food and economic insecurities in our community, please consider a donation to the BSD Community Resource Fund.
Free Kid's Clothing
Whether they’re in school physically or not, we know that kids keep growing and growing out of their clothes. The district-run Clothes Closet will be reopening on August 24 to provide new or gently used clothing to any student who qualifies for free or reduced lunch.
Because of COVID-19, we’re moving to an appointment-only scheduling system. If you and your student(s) would like to select clothes for the upcoming school year, please sign up online. If you’re unable to access our online calendar, call 503-356-4322 to schedule an appointment. Please note: all Clothes Closet visitors will need to wear masks and gloves. If you don’t have your own, we’ll provide them.

PTO Welcome Message
Welcome back to returning families and a big hello to our new families! It's safe to say we have never had a start of school quite like this before. Many of us are working to balance our kids, work, and self-care while a pandemic and other stressors are going on simultaneously. It is not an easy position, but I know we can do this. Our Findley community is strong and we are fortunate to have some of the best teachers and administrators around. They have been working hard to prepare for your child's first day of school.
As you can imagine, many of our PTO programs may not be happening this year. Some leads are trying to figure out how to offer the activities in an online setting while others may not be able to run at all. The committees are all volunteer-based and like you, are balancing the needs of their family, work and school. If there is a certain activity you would like to get involved in, please reach out to ptofindley@gmail.com and our Volunteer Coordinator will connect you to the appropriate lead.
A huge thank you to our Dragon Dash committee which has been working throughout the summer and adapting to the ever-changing environment. We have tried to scale back our asking amount this year to cover what is necessary to run our school and support our teachers. If you are able to give above the minimum requested donation, the money will go towards some exciting capital improvements projects. Thanks to previous fundraising years, we've provided screens, carts and Apple TVs to the teachers in 2019 and installed an irrigation system on the field in 2020 (during the school closure). See the pictures below to see the sprinklers in action. You may have noticed how much greener our field stayed this summer. This is due to the incredible support we get from parents like you at Findley! We hope to continue to make field improvements (including drainage and smoothing out the surface), add water bottle fill stations to our water fountains and possibly make improvements to the playground.
Mark your calendars for our 2020-2021 PTO general meetings: November 9th, February 8th, and May 17th. All meetings will be on Zoom and start at 7pm.
On behalf of the PTO Board, welcome back to school! We look forward to lots of learning and fun this year.
Sincerely,
Amy Heang
PTO President
Dragon Dash!!
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Findley Elementary! The Findley PTO is happy to be back to support the students, teachers, and staff at Findley for the 2020-2021 school year in this virtual capacity. Friday, September 18th begins our main fundraising event known as the Dragon Dash. If you're NEW to Findley, Welcome!, and thanks for joining our wonderful community. Since we're virtual this Fall, things will look a bit different than in previous years. All of our communications will be via email. All of our usual paper communications have been condensed and the information can be found within our Findley PTO website, https://www.findleypto.com/fundraising/dragon-dash/
This year's event will be held for an entire week! Starting Monday, 10/5 and continuing through Friday, 10/9, your student(s) will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of physical activities at home to earn a BINGO. Each activity should take about five minutes. Students are encouraged to take photos or videos and email them to dragondashpm@gmail.com. We will compile student submissions into a slideshow that will be shared school-wide later this year.
Due to the inaccessibility of the Findley campus, fundraising will be completely digital and all donations can be made securely through PledgeStar, our fundraising partner for many Dragon Dash events. Additional details for this year's event and sign up information on PledgeStar can be found in the document attached. The fundraising dollars collected by the Findley PTO have funded many clubs, science fairs, teacher support, technology, field improvements, and many other areas within Findley. Even though we're starting out this school year with comprehensive distance learning, the fundraising dollars are still critical to continue to provide support to field and playground improvements, water filling station installations, and a variety of teacher/student support at Findley. With that in mind, we've reduced the suggested donation amount per student this year to $50. More information about reward levels, raffle prizes and information about PledgeStar can be found in the Dragon Dash section of our Findley PTO website on Tuesday, September 15th.
Lastly, thank you for your support of the Dragon Dash and Findley PTO. Any questions can be directed to our parent volunteers at dragondashpm@gmail.com.
Thank you,
Findley PTO
