Dear Maynard Community,

As you likely know, my family is moving to Georgia and these are my last days serving as your Principal of the great Fowler School.

Over the past 5 years, it has been my utmost honor to serve as your Principal, and I am eternally grateful for the trust and support you have bestowed upon me. The bond between the school and the community is a cherished one, and it has been an incredible journey working hand in hand with you all to create a nurturing and enriching environment for our students. This was my 19th year in public school leadership, and I loved each and every day that I got to open the front doors to welcome Fowler kiddos with a smile and a fist bump.

I have been continually amazed by the dedication and passion exhibited by our remarkable staff. Their unwavering commitment to the growth and well-being of our students has been a constant source of inspiration for me. Their tireless efforts have shaped the minds and hearts of our Fowler Family, and I am proud to have been a part of such an extraordinary team.

To the students, I want to express my sincere admiration for you! It has been a privilege to watch you grow, learn, and navigate the sometimes challenging, sometimes awesome path of middle school. I am confident that you will be great in whatever path you choose, but please don't forget the amazing community that raised you in Maynard. Literally no one says middle school was their favorite time, but you grew bigger and brighter right before my eyes! There are much more exciting and better days ahead in high school and beyond!

To parents and guardians, thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children. Your support and partnership have been instrumental in creating a strong sense of community within our school. Your involvement, whether through volunteering, attending school events, or participating in parent-teacher conferences, has made a significant difference in the lives of our students.

As I bid farewell to Maynard and to Fowler, I am confident that the foundations we have laid together will continue to flourish under the capable hands of Principal Kinney. Change brings opportunities for growth, and I am certain that this transition will open doors to new ideas, fresh perspectives, and exciting possibilities.

Though I may be leaving my role as Principal, I will carry with me the memories and lessons learned during my time at Fowler, and I am excited to embark on a new chapter in my life. My book is only half written!

Lastly, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every member of this extraordinary, "funky" community. The support, warmth, and encouragement I have received during my tenure have left an indelible mark on my heart. The memories we have created together will be cherished.

Thank you, once again, for your unwavering support, and for allowing me the honor of serving as your Principal. It has been an incredible journey, and I look forward to the continued success of Fowler.

Become more involved with MMA. Join us at our last meeting of the school year, Thursday, June 22, where we’ll be holding elections for open board positions. We’ll also be meeting on July 18 at 7 p.m. as we plan our biggest fundraiser, Casino Night. Please email your interest to maynard.music.assoc@gmail.com, and we’ll send you the meeting details.

Sign up for Assabet Valley Summer Music, which is being offered right here in Maynard at the Fowler School! The registration deadline is June 30. Open to students entering grades 5-12. Be sure to check out the 2nd Annual Maynard Jazz Fest this Saturday, June 17. This event is completely free! Come early to catch the MHS Jazz Band at the education tent (Naylor Court) at 1:45pm and 2:30pm! Also, stop by the Jazzhers table—set up near the education tent. An amazing lineup of music is scheduled from 2-6pm including headliner, BT ALC Big Band. (see flyer)

Jazz Jams are back in downtown Maynard this summer! Be on the lookout for jazz jam pop-ups! The first one will be on the El Huipil Patio on Thursday, June 22, 6-8 pm. Open to all ages and levels, hosted by Blueprint Jazz Club (Trish Fanara). Follow Blueprint on Facebook and Instagram @blueprintjazzclub for more updates throughout the summer. (see flyer)

The online bus registration for the 2023-2024 school year is open!

ANYONE who needs their student to take the bus MUST register this year, even if you receive the bus for free and/or live more than 2 miles from school.

Why? This allows us to know how many seats are available for the other students. Not all students who live more than 2 miles from school take the bus to school. It is difficult for us to know how many seats are left for those who live less than 2 miles. Please register for the bus so we can have a better estimate.

Show your appreciation with the MEF Teacher Tribute! - Deadline Monday June 12

Through the MEF Teacher & Staff Tribute Program you can recognize and honor teachers and staff members that have had a positive impact in your students' life.

To participate please:

2. Select the teacher(s) or staff member(s) that you want to honor
3. Decide if you want to write a short message of appreciation
4. Make a tax-deductible donation (The amount of your donation will remain confidential to your honoree.)

We'll send a letter and a commemorative magnet to the teacher(s) and/or staff member(s) to proudly display in their classroom.

Your donation directly benefits teachers, students, and administrators by supporting MEF’s grant program which funds innovative initiatives and new learning opportunities in the Maynard Public Schools. Thanks to the generosity of families & community members, MEF awarded over $36,000 in grants to enrich the educational experience of our students during the 2022-2023 school year.

As we near the end of the school year, the Librarian would like to remind everyone to take a moment to check around the house for any stray Library books and chromebooks. All Fowler Library books and chromebooks must be returned by Monday, June 12th. The last day to borrow books from the library will be Tuesday, May 30th.

The Green Meadow Elementary School project team has submitted its second MSBA submission! This submission is called the Preferred Schematic Report (PSR) and it advances the initial existing conditions verification, educational visioning & programming and Owner / Community coordination into multiple design alternatives, shows MSBA the design alternative evaluation process taken by the project team, and highlights which design alternative was ultimately selected at the end of the process.
