Please join in our Fourth Annual District-Wide Pajama Day on Friday, December 1st to support the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Over the past three years, Roxbury students, staff, and community have raised close to $13,000 for CHOP, beating our set goal each year. Let's see if we can keep this tradition going and beat our goal again! We are setting our sights higher and are hoping to bring in (or over) $3,000!

We will all join together on Friday, December 1st to wear our pajamas and show our unity in supporting the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Please share this information with all staff and students. Also, encourage those interested to donate to this event in support of CHOP. The easiest and best way to donate is via our website at https://chop.donordrive.com/campaign/Roxbury-s-Annual-Pajama-Day. Cash/check donations will be accepted in the Main Office. Checks should be made payable to Roxbury Board of Education.

Beginning on Friday, a Book Return will be placed in the Main Lobby of the school for students' to return their library books. With a more consistent substitute teacher in LMD, book check out will be resuming. Thank you for your patience.

Following is a special invitation from Mr. Conrad, Director of RHS Bands...

On Saturday, Dec. 9th at 3 pm in the RHS auditorium (Snow Date Sunday, Dec. 10th at 3 pm), the RHS Honors Wind Symphony will be presenting the Fifth Annual Holiday Pops Concert featuring a program of all holiday music! As a father of two young children, I wanted to create a concert accessible to our youngest audience members. The anticipated length of the concert program will only be about 30 minutes. This is NOT a "sit down" concert. Children are allowed and encouraged to get up from their seats and move during the performance! I know my son and daughter LOVED dancing in front of the stage with a group of other children last year!

Afterwards, we will have a reception in the cafeteria featuring light refreshments and holiday craft stations for young audience members. Admission is free, but we will be collecting items for donation to Roxbury Social Services. Donations to the Roxbury Band program will be accepted as well.

Make-up day is approaching on December 12th and we encourage anyone who was absent or retaking their image to please see our photographer on this day. BNL has re-opened our school’s pre-pay code. Please note that all classes will have their Class Pictures retaken on this day.

Retaking an Image without an order?

At this time you are only able to view your original day image online. Once your image has been replaced with your re-take you may go online and place an order using your personal web code we provided to you on your Last Chance form.

Retaking an image and already placed an order?

Students MUST bring in original package and provide it to our photographer. We kindly ask parents to write any concerns on the FRONT of the envelope. Your order will be replaced using your new image.

This week a few of our fourth grade students visited Mrs. Ralston's class and shared their HOW TO pieces with Mrs. Ralston's current class. The cool part... the pieces that they were sharing were the virtual HOW TO videos that they created when they were in first grade and learning virtually due to COVID.

Would you or your child be interested in serving on the Maschio's Food Advisory Committee on Tuesday, December 6 @ 9:15 - 9:45 AM? The purpose of this committee is to provide Maschio's with feedback on their food program. During the 2023-2024, Nixon School will have a segment on our internally live streamed Morning Annoucements that focuses on our district's monthly Sustainability Themes. Every Nixon School student has the opportunity to be a part of this effort.

All it takes is a student, possibly along with their family, working together to complete and submit this form with a suggested, BRIEF Public Service Announement focused on one of our Sustainability themes. Suggested PSA's will be considered and then potentially scheduled to take place during the respective month.

We look forward to our students being stewards of our community's sustainability efforts.
