Principal's Message
Dear Sabre families,
We hope everyone had a good week away from school and are ready to get back to their regular routine.
We are seeing more diversity throughout our community. Happy Diwali to our students and families who celebrate it. Thank you to Mr. Siewert who is organizing the food and festivities at SAL on Tuesday.
Here we are, the middle of November and it still feels like September outside. Is it too early to wonder if snow will be on the ground Christmas day?
It was a busy week before the break with celebrating our award winners from the 2022 - 2023 school year, Halloween and all that it brings, honoring Remembrance Day, and Parent Teacher Interviews. As a note and reminder, while we have ‘formal’ Parent Teacher Interviews each semester, please reach out to our staff at any point of the school year should you have any questions or concerns.
While we were off for a week, there were many amazing accomplishments and much to look forward to.
First, to review, Congratulations to our Junior Boys Football Team for winning the Championship Final over our friends at Bev Facey. Kudos to both teams on their seasons.
To our Senior Boy’s Football Team who won their Provincial Quarter Final game against Notre Dame with a score of 44-0. The Northern Final is this Saturday at Emerald hills at 2:30 p.m.
Also, to our Senior Girls Volleyball Team who played hard and finished with silver in Division One. Good luck to them in their provincial run.
The much heralded SAL theater season is starting! Please see the posters below for the showtimes and ticket information.

In closing, and on a personal note, I will be going on paternity leave, effective December 15 for the remainder of the year. Liane Schultz will be the Principal and please stay tuned for an announcement on the Assistant Principal position.
Please see the important information below from Mrs. Schultz regarding Graduation 2024.
Graduation 2024
It is an exciting time of year as we plan for Grad 2024. Already the Sal Graduation Staff Committee is working hard behind the scenes to ensure that graduation is a huge success. The grade 12 class is working diligently to ensure that they are progressing towards achieving their Alberta High School Diploma and we are so proud of them.
Grad 2024 is Saturday, June 1 at the Expo Centre and we will be following a similar template as years past.
Grad Meeting:
The first Grad 2024 Parent/Caregiver/Student meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. We will discuss grad requirements, ceremony, prom, grad photos, school expectations. Grad committee members will be available to answer any questions you may have.
We look forward to seeing you there! This meeting will not be live streamed, but feel free to email liane.schultz@eips.ca if you have any questions and cannot make it to the meeting. As well, the Salisbury website at www.salcomp.ca has all the up-to-date graduation information.
The first Grad 2023/24 list will be posted on Wednesday, November 22. Students are on the list if there is a plan in place that gets them to graduation. Students will be listed by ASN number.
Please note that to be on the grad list, students need to have a graduation plan in place and students need to be passing the required Alberta High School Diploma courses at time of publishing. It is important to know that if your student fails classes or does not complete the number of credits expected in option classes it could affect whether they will be on future grad lists.
While teachers, guidance, and administration are having discussions with students and families regarding their progress, we encourage parents/caregivers to take a moment to check student’s marks on PowerSchool to make sure they are where they need to be.
Here is the criteria for future Grad lists:
March Grad List
On track for 100 credits
Completed or registered in CALM and PE 10 with evidence of progress
Mark of 50% or higher in all courses required for graduation
May Grad List
On track for 100 credits
Completed or registered in CALM and PE 10 with evidence of progress
Mark of 50% or higher in all courses required for graduation
Students registered in courses at Next Step or Vista Virtual must have 75% of the course work completed
Please contact Liane Schultz at liane.schultz@eips.ca or Jeremy Cooper jeremy.cooper@eips.ca, the Grade 12 Success Team, if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Mrs. Schultz
