Mill Creek Magic Messages
News and Updates from Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha 10/13/2023
From Mr. Croyle and Mr. Murtha
It is a beautiful day in many ways! The literal weather is fall perfect (tomorrow... maybe not so much), and our Philadelphia Phillies just advanced to the NLCS - amazing and cause for celebration!
Speaking of celebration, we are celebrating Fire Prevention Month in October, and our Kindergarten-2nd Grade students were paid a visit by the Warrington Fire Department. Members of the Department shared ways students can help and educate their families about staying fire safe at home and being prepared for the possibility of a fire event in their homes. Our Kindergarten-2nd Grade students learned a lot about how to stay safe, and they... of course... loved seeing (and some even wearing!) the fire equipment and checking out the big red fire truck!
Finally, please read the following information about the day's events at school on Halloween... Mill Creek's Halloween Celebrations will occur on the 1/2 day morning of Tuesday, October 31.
Our Halloween Parade will occur early in the school day; start time will be 9:30 a.m. The parade takes place in front of the main school entrance in the bus loading/parking area. A roped-off parade path will be set up. Spectators need to be on the outside of the parade path. The Halloween Parade is weather dependent. If inclement weather occurs on the 31st, we will hold classroom celebrations only.
Costumes worn for our Halloween celebrations should be school appropriate. The following should not be a part of a school Halloween costume:
- Hockey sticks, baseball bats, or other items that could be harmful.
- Costumes/objects with violent themes.
- Weapons used as costume props.
Classroom celebrations will occur after the Halloween Parade. Only scheduled classroom volunteers May enter the building after the parade. Food is permitted for these celebrations, but we would ask that, where possible, community food items be individually packaged (students may still bring in their individual, daily snack for personal consumption in school). Please communicate with your child's classroom teacher if you would prefer your child refrain from eating food items that are part of classroom celebrations.
We look forward fun and spooky day on the 31st!

From the Mill Creek Diversity Committee...
Did you know that Mill Creek has a Diversity Committee? This year, the Diversity Committee is excited to share many events, celebrations, and important topics with Mill Creek students. Our goal throughout the year will be to bring awareness to meaningful subjects, educate students, and celebrate all kinds of diversity.
In September-October, we highlighted Hispanic Heritage Month. Students in each grade learned that many countries celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Additionally, students learned about a famous Hispanic historical figure, Jaime Escalante. Stay tuned for upcoming celebrations/announcements from the Diversity Committee!
