We know that many of our families have multiple students at Little Cedars. Please feel free to go to both sessions, and if needed, stay for a bit in one class and then move to another classroom.
We would also like to invite you to visit our other classrooms that your students may utilize: Speech room, Occupational Therapy room, Resource room and our Social Skills and Communication room during the Open House.
There will be some signs throughout the school for you to leave a message for your child/ children. Please be on the lookout for them! See you Thursday!

Each student household in the Snohomish School District will receive a free and reduced-price meal application in the mail in August. Forms can be found at your child's school or online at www.sno.wednet.edu/freereducedmeals.
Who should fill out an application?
Fill out the application if:
- Total household income is the same or less than the amount on the chart.
- You receive Basic Food, take part in the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) for your children.
- You are applying for foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court.
Applications
- Free & Reduced Meal Application (English)
- Free & Reduced Meal Application (Spanish)
- Free & Reduced Meal Application (Russian)
Turn in the application to Snohomish School District, Attn: Meal Applications, 1601 Avenue D, Snohomish, WA 98290. Be sure to submit only one application per household. We will notify you if the application is approved or denied. If any child you are applying for is homeless (McKinney-Vento), or migrant, check the appropriate box.
What counts as income? Who is considered a member of my household?
Look at the income chart below. Find your household size. Find your total household income. If members in the household are paid at different times during the month and you are unsure if your household is eligible, fill out an application and we will determine your income eligibility for you. The information you give will be used to determine your child's eligibility for free or reduced-price meals.
Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court are eligible for free meals regardless of personal use income. If you have questions about applying for meal benefits for foster children, please contact us at 360-563-7314.
USDA Child Nutrition Program Income Guidelines
- Household is defined as all persons, including parents, children, grandparents, and all people related or unrelated who live in your home and share living expenses. If applying for a household with a foster child, you may include the foster child in the total household size.
- Household income is considered to be the income each household member received before taxes. This includes wages, social security, pension, unemployment, welfare, child support, alimony, and any other cash income. If including a foster child as part of the household, you must also include the foster child’s personal income. Do not report foster payments as income.

Counselor's Corner
Hello Little Cedars' Families!
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and how to reach me. My name is Julie Ray and this will be my 17th year as a school counselor. Before coming to LCE I spent the last 16 years serving the students and families of Valley View Middle School. There is a good chance if you have older kids that I may have been fortunate enough to work with them and maybe even you! I graduated from UW and went on to receive a double masters at Seattle University in School Counseling and Community Mental Health. My own children have grown and graduated through the schools of Snohomish School District and am a very proud mom!
I have been making my way to each class introducing myself and explaining how to see me and some of the reasons why you may come to talk with me. I am very aware of the need for support services surrounding our students’ mental health needs. While I am not a “therapist” in the building, I will work with your child to help strengthen friendship skills, regulating and expressing emotions, problem solving and decision-making skills, and brief solution-oriented meetings regarding bigger issues.
If you feel like your child could benefit from a little more of a regular check in about certain issues, such as anxiety, perfectionism, family transitions etc., please let me know and we can get the process started. As the year progresses and the students’ needs become clearer, I will be offering small groups and lunch bunch activities to meet those needs. Any student participating in any regular meetings with me, small group, or lunch bunch will need to have parent consent before starting.
My ultimate goal is helping our kids become better versions of themselves every day, to have the courage to try something new, to see mistakes as another learning opportunity and partner with you in your child’s success. I look forward to getting to know all the students here and help them reach their goals.
If you have any questions for me or would like to speak further about your child you can reach me either by phone at 360-563-2906 or through email at julie.ray@sno.wednet.edu .
Warmly,
Julie Ray, M ED, CAAS
