2024-2025 Course Selection
Course Selection for the 2024-2025 School Year
Again this year, course selection will be electronic and occur in Skyward. All students will still have a course selection sheet to be completed and turn in with a parent signature. However, they will be entering the courses in Skyward themselves. We will provide all students and parents explicit directions about how to complete this task as we get closer to the date of course selection.
Course selection will end on March 22, 2024 when all course selection sheets are due to counselors.
AP Exam Information
Registration for AP exams for spring AP courses is underway. Students in spring AP courses received registration paperwork from their teachers. If students are interested in registering for an AP exam, they should complete the registration form, register in AP classroom, and submit $98 payment to the guidance office no later than March 8, 2024.

2024 Yearbook Information
If you have not yet ordered your yearbook, please use this link to reserve your copy. We finalize our yearbook order in the middle of the month and do not intentionally order extra copies. Ordering your book in advance is the only way to guarantee your student will get one.
Educational Trips (SERFs) & College Visits
The school district recognizes, from time to time, students may have the opportunity to participate in pre-planned trips and educational experiences during the regular school day. it is recommended that every effort be made to arrange trips during times when school is not in session.
Upon receipt of a written notice from the parents/guardians of the students involved, students may be excused from school attendance for up to five (5) school days per year to participate in educational tours or trips when such trips are evaluated and approved by the school principal in advance.
Pre-approval forms (SERFs) are available in the school office and online. The parent/guardian shall be responsible for completing and returning a full and complete pre-approval form prior to the educational tour or trip.
The determination for each request will be made using the following criteria: prior attendance records, previous requests and frequency of such requests, the weighted educational value of the requested experience, and academic performance (passing all classes).
At the high school, SERFs that are turned in prior to the trip will be processed one week prior to the trip dates. At that time, the student's prior attendance and academic performance will be checked. If a student is past their 10 allotted absence days and/or failing a class, the trip will be denied. A denied trip will mean the days the student is absent for the trip will be unexcused.
Applications for educational tours or trips to occur during the first or last ten (10) days of school are strongly discouraged due to the negative academic impacts on the student. Applications for educational tours or trips to occur during any pre-established testing or examination periods, including final exams, PSSAs, andor Keystone Exams will not be approved. Absences during such periods will be considered unexcused.
The student will be required to secure and complete all classroom assignments which occur during the period of the educational trip or tour.
Students who plan a college visit should complete the college visit paperwork, which can be found online and in the guidance office. This paperwork should be completed prior to the visit, as well as submit the necessary paperwork from the college in order to have the day excused.
Prom Eligibility
The Junior/Senior Prom date has been set for Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Valencia Ballroom. Tickets will go on sale in the Spring for all Juniors and Seniors.
Are You Eligible To Attend?
In order to be eligible to attend school-sponsored dances, students must:
Be Conduct Eligible
No Tier 3 disciplinary infractions in the prior three months (Effective 2/10/24)
Not have an excessive referral count -
Semester 1 - 5 or more referrals for the school year
Semester 2 - 10 or more referrals for the school year
Be Attendance Eligible
Absent for no more than 10% of school days to date, including excused and unexcused absences (A total of 17 days for the semester will make a student ineligible.)
Please keep this in mind as we move through the school year and get closer to Prom. Students who purchase a ticket in April but fail to meet the eligibility requirements due to poor attendance or a Tier 3 disciplinary infraction will have their money refunded if the tickets can be resold to another student on a wait list. No money will be refunded to students after May 4, 2024.
Tickets may not be sold from student to student.
Winter Weather Days Reminder
As we approach the winter months and the potential for inclement weather, we would like to clarify weather days:
Traditional Snow Days will be called on those days when a sudden storm overnight causes the road conditions to be unsafe for travel. In other words, traditional snow days will be called when the district has no time to prepare in advance. When traditional snow days are used, the school days will be made up later. The 2023-2024 Dover Area School District calendar has two makeup days built into the calendar after January 1, 2024. Those dates are March 1, 2024 and April 1, 2024. If those dates are exhausted, any additional makeup days will be added to the end of the school year.
Remote Learning Days will be announced when inclement weather is known in advance. This means remote learning days will only be called when the district has had time to prepare and communicate with students, families, and staff. Remote Learning Days will require all students to complete work on their iPads; therefore, the iPads will be sent home before the Remote Learning Day.
Many factors go into making decisions regarding traditional snow days and remote learning days, including recent and upcoming holidays and other days off. The decisions are made with an emphasis on safety and maximizing instructional time for students. We provide this information as a guideline but not a guarantee of a traditional snow day or a remote learning day. The district will communicate by sending voice calls, emails, and posts on the district’s website, TV stations, and FaceBook as soon as possible as to what to expect. Expect a regular day if you do not hear or see anything.
