Encouragment Coach
Today we are highlighting Tamica Jones, our Encouragement Coach.
Tamica has been at Summerour since 2016. She has been teaching Health, teaching PE, and coaching basketball. She's been such a blessing to her students, that we've found a way for her really delve deep with some OUR students.
She provides guidance, support, and encouragement to students (and to teachers). She specializes in using our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) to engage students. She places primary emphasis on creating inclusive, positive learning environments where students, teachers, and staff feel a sense of belonging.
Hispanic Heritage Night
Hispanic Heritage Month began on September 15th and ends October 15th.
Our Hispanic Heritage Night celebration will take place on Thursday, October 13th from 6:00-7:30 PM.
That night, we will have a bunch of exciting activities. Come and join us!

A letter will be sent home which includes additional information about the program. The letter will go home the week of October 3, 2022.
If you do NOT want your student to participate, it must be returned by October 10, 2022. If your student will participate, you need to do nothing.

GCPS Calendar Options 2023-2024
While it is still early in this school year, we are seeking your valuable input and feedback on the calendar options for the 2023-24 school year. The calendar options were built based on feedback we have received from students, staff, families, and our community from previous school calendars. In these options, you will find an option that is very similar to the current 2022-23 calendar, as well as options with different features like the removal of staggered start days, the removal of some or all digital learning days, and the addition of holidays that are inclusive of the rich diversity we have here in Gwinnett County.
Please use this link to review and then share your thoughts on the 2023-24 School Calendar options.
We value your feedback on the calendar options provided for the 2023-24 school year. Thank you in advance for taking the time to review these options and share your thoughts with us.

Xfinity Issue on a Chromebook?
GCPS is aware that some students using Chromebooks at home are getting an Xfinity popup that keeps them from connecting to their home network and will not allow them to bypass or close the popup or get to network settings. We are investigating a long-term solution. A temporary solution is listed below.
Enable or Disable the Xfinity WiFi Home Hotspot Feature in Xfinity xFi
Go to the Xfinity app (available to download for free from Apple App Store or Google Play).
Sign into your account using your Xfinity ID and password.
Select Connect, then select See Network and then scroll down to select Advanced Settings (under More).
From there, select Xfinity WiFi Hotspot.
Slide the toggle to the right to enable your public hotspot and to the left to disable it.
