Coronation tea party
We hosted an afternoon tea party for the local elderly residents on Friday 5th May in celebration of the King's Coronation. Year 10 students welcomed the guests into the building and saw them to their seats, before serving them tea and coffee and a selection of different sweet and savoury snacks. Live music performed exceptionally by year 10 pupils, Hope Adjei and Abigail Longley, was enjoyed by all. Guests were also gifted a free book of their choice as a memoir of the special occasion.
Deaf Awareness Week
We marked deaf awareness week at Hathershaw on the week of Monday 1st May. During the week students explored top tips for communicating with deaf people and were busy practicing their signing skills using a BSL fingerspelling alphabet guide in Form. This allowed students to get a better understanding and appreciation of the British Sign Language.

Grounds for Hope
We've had guest speaker, David Alcock in school this week to deliver sustainability focused workshop, 'Grounds for Hope' to students in years 8, 9 and 10. The session focused on staying hopeful for a better future and looked at how the world has developed over the years. It was wonderful to see students so engaged in the insightful session, with many busy taking notes on ways to become more sustainable.
