RES Newsletter #22
A Note From Ms. C
Dear RES Community,
It’s hard to believe that this school year is in its final weeks! The coming weeks will be filled with lots of outside fun, learning, bike-for-booking, exploration, and celebrations. With an eye towards next year, we wanted to share out information about next year’s grade configurations.
As a small school, our grade configurations often need to shift to accommodate incoming class sizes. As of this writing, we anticipate two incoming Kindergarteners to join our community. In looking at class numbers for next year, our teaching team decided that shifting configurations to K-2 (Melissa Giroux), 3-4 (Charlotte Holmquist), and 5 (Susan Ogilvie) would allow for continuity for teachers to loop with their students which provides an opportunity for teachers to build on their deep knowledge of students already in their class, and creating balanced class sizes. The configuration also allows for a straight 5th grade class to delve deeply into the content and practices to best prepare them for middle school. Our K-2 class will be led by Melissa Giroux who is incredibly skilled in early elementary, and will be receiving additional support in the classroom to meet the needs of our youngest learners.
We have much to look forward to in the remaining weeks of this year - and are so excited to return next year strong and well-positioned to build upon all of the learning, hard work, and community in each class!

Fifth Grade KEEC Fundraiser Success!
Fifth grade students planned a fun evening of movie-watching combined with a bracelet and bake sale, this past Thursday! Weeks of planning, after-school bracelet-making, and an evening of hard work paid off with everyone having a great time, and a successful raising of funds for their KEEC trip! Many thanks for families who donated baked goods and food, and for Mrs. O'Neill and Ms. Erin for their help! A huge thank you for everyone who attended and helped make the event so much fun!
