BHS and MVMS Choirs perform together at the PAC
What a night! The Mountain View Middle School and Bremerton High School choirs recently put on an incredible show - together at the PAC - and it was truly spectacular.
Each of the six choirs had the opportunity to shine individually, followed by exciting collaborations, such as the BHS Knight Sounds (BHS advanced choir) joining forces with the MVMS Mountain Voices (MVMS advanced choir).
The grand finale featured ALL the choirs on stage – more than 250 singers! The Performing Arts Center was packed with proud parents, students and staff - and the energy was electric.
Congratulations to all the students and their dedicated teachers! We invite you to view more photos here.
Naval Avenue Elementary students take an up-close look at spiders!
Naval Avenue Elementary students are discovering the fascinating world of spiders thanks to WSU Master Gardener Sherry Kanode!
Last spring, staff, students, and volunteers revitalized the school's vegetable gardens, providing hands-on learning opportunities for students in partnership with SNAP-ED at the WSU Extension.
Classroom lessons are designed to meet the unique learning needs of students in all grades. Younger students participated in spider lessons taught by Ms. Kanode earlier this fall. The week before winter break, fourth and fifth graders were delving deeper, using digital microscopes to examine live spider specimens.
A heartfelt thank you to all the community organizations that partner with us to enhance student learning.
NJROTC Knight Company earns high marks in annual inspection
The Bremerton NJROTC Knight Company had their Annual Military Inspection (AMI) this month. The cadets gave Commander Vincent Quidachay a brief overview of the unit before he did a complete uniform inspection of Knight Company, and completed a walkthrough of spaces and procedures. Knight Company earned a 10.5 out of 10 - a better than perfect score for the second year in a row!
The event culminated with the Pass in Review, which is a military-style parade held in the evening. More than sixty family, friends and staff attended the Pass in Review, which also included some awards and recognition for cadets. Congratulations Knight Company!
Tis the season for Frosty's Breakfast!

View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy fifth grade students take to the stage!
View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy fifth graders recently took the stage at the Bremerton Performing Arts Center to share a heartwarming story of friendship between rival robotics teams in the musical "Bots!" They sang, danced, and acted their hearts out to an audience of more than 300 people. We so appreciate the friends, families and community members who attended the event, cheering them on as they shared their hard work through this fabulous presentation.
Building excitement: bond program updates
Armin Jahr Elementary and View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy school construction
We’re pleased to share continued progress on the bond program as we move from planning and validation into more tangible steps toward design.
Our team recently wrapped up the "validation" phase for the Armin Jahr Elementary School (AJ) and View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy (VR) replacements, confirming that our plans, budgets, and timelines are on solid footing. With the validation phase complete, we’re now kicking off the schematic design, where the design team starts translating our collective ideas and feedback into initial concepts for the new school buildings. At our most recent meeting with the Advisory Committee, the team worked through exercises to explore possible layouts and connections between learning spaces, and we’ve been engaging families and staff directly at events hosted by the schools to gather even more valuable input.
Keeping our families and community informed is a priority!
Armin Jahr Transition Advisory Working Group
We are establishing an Armin Jahr Transition Advisory Working Group to help guide us through the process of establishing an interim school community while Armin Jahr gets replaced. We’re encouraging AJ staff and families to participate. If you are interested, please fill out an Application Form.
Save the date: Our first bond program community open house is January 27
Next month, we’ll extend these opportunities to the entire community: on January 27, we’re hosting a community open house for all of Bremerton to learn more about the bond program’s progress and share their thoughts as we shape the future of our schools. Stay tuned for more details!
Other bond projects
Beyond these elementary school replacements, other bond projects are also moving forward. Our HVAC project team is finalizing their recommended approach for adding cooling to our schools, and we’ll be sharing those plans with the Board in January. We’re also wrapping up the study and survey update, a key step in securing state funds to support our construction efforts. In addition, we’ve begun the selection process for a design-build team to lead the consolidated facilities replacement project, which will give us the flexibility to work with the best professionals to maximize the value of our bond investment.
As always, we appreciate your continued interest, feedback, and support. Stay tuned, and we look forward to seeing you at the open house next month!
