Homefront Stocking Collection

STAT Club is hosting its annual Holiday HomeFront collection. As a school, we work to collect holiday stockings and stocking stuffers to help those in need. All items are donated to HomeFront, which is an organization that provides support to the less fortunate in the Mercer County area. Please bring all donations to your homeroom. This collection will be going on until December 19th. Let's continue to spread some holiday cheer to the families of HomeFront!

Happy Thanksgiving

As we all prepare to leave for the holiday, we want to wish all of students and their families a Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for the opportunity to work with your children everyday at school, and look forward to welcoming them back after the holiday. Until then, we hope everyone has a safe and restful holiday.

Our food drive collected 2,352 items, a new school record. The items were picked up by the food bank on Monday and these students helped load up the truck. Thank you to everyone for supporting the food drive!

Clinical Corner

I thought I would share an article by Helpguide.org which discusses the benefits of practicing gratitude and how it can help your mental health. “This kind of thinking leads to a release of serotonin and dopamine, chemicals in the brain that are associated with happiness and pleasure. Acknowledging gratitude also decreases stress hormones. The short-term result is a reduction in anxiety and an improvement in mood. In the long-term, regularly practicing gratitude may also lead to lasting changes in your brain, priming you to be more grateful moving forward.” The article talks about other bonus benefits of gratitude such as better sleep, improved focus, higher self-esteem, increased patience, and social and physical health benefits. Built into this article are mindfulness techniques as well as an audio meditation called Gratitude in Difficult Times. To cite an example they use, in which your car gets a flat tire, instead of looking at all the negatives, choose to be grateful for your job so you can afford repairs, or how fortunate you are to have a close friend who can drive you home. NHS Tutoring

Is your child in need of academic support? Members of the High School National Honors Society provide tutoring to all Northern Burlington students. Middle School students can attend tutoring after school on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Greyhound Learning Center. Interested students simply need to sign up during their lunch period.
