CCPS Cell Phone Policy Update
CCPS School Board Approves Updated Cell Phone Policy
Campbell County Public Schools Policy Update: Effective January 1, 2025
Update regarding Policy JFC-R: Standards of Student Code of Conduct Policy Cell Phones and Personal Electronic Communication Devices
This policy update aligns with Governor Glenn Youngkin's Executive Order 33 (EO33), which aims to create a cell phone-free learning environment in Virginia's K-12 schools.
By adopting this policy, CCPS aims to foster a more focused and productive educational environment, supporting both academic success and the overall well-being of our students.
The key objectives of this cell phone policy include:
- Reducing Distractions: Ensuring that students are fully engaged in the learning process by eliminating the temptation to use their phones during class.
- Improving Academic Performance: Encouraging students to concentrate on their studies and participate actively in classroom activities.
- Emphasizing the development of the 5 C's: Communication and collaboration are critical skills that employers actively seek in their future workforce.
- Promoting Mental Health: Addressing concerns about the negative impact of excessive screen time on students' mental well-being.
- Enhancing Safety: Preventing issues related to cyberbullying, inappropriate content, and other online risks that can arise from unrestricted phone access.
