Bremerton School District
An update from the Bremerton School Board
January 13, 2024
Dear Bremerton School District Community,
On behalf of the Bremerton School District Board of Directors, I am writing to inform you of the resignation of Carolynn Perkins, effective January 9, 2025.
Director Perkins has dedicated more than 15 years to serving the children of our district. Throughout her tenure, she championed early childhood education and advocated for research-based, high-quality instruction for all students. We are deeply grateful for her leadership and contributions to the success of the Bremerton School District.
The Board will follow state law and District policies 1114 and 1114P to fill this vacancy. This process involves appointing an individual to serve until the next regularly scheduled election in November 2025. The appointed member will then have the choice to run for election and continue their service.
We invite community members to nominate qualified candidates (including self-nominations) for the Board vacancy. To be eligible, candidates must:
be a U.S. citizen
reside in the Bremerton School District boundaries
be a registered voter
Please submit nominations with completed application to Interim Superintendent Donna Colosky by February 6th, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Nominations can be sent via email to donna.colosky@bremertonschools.org or mailed or delivered to 134 Marion Avenue North, Bremerton, WA 98312.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of my fellow board directors. You can contact us directly via email through the District website at www.bremertonschools.org/directors.
We hope you will join us in thanking Director Perkins for her unwavering dedication to our schools. Her mentorship and service will be deeply missed.
Sincerely,
John Paul Hurley
President
