On April 18, Superintendent Dr. Green and the district’s finance partner, Stifel, and municipal advisors from Plante Moran CRESA, as well as associates from Barton Malow and French Associates Architecture, held an informational presentation regarding the 2023 bond sales, construction, and finances for 50 students from University High School Academy and 50 students from Southfield High School for the Arts & Technology.

The presentation granted students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the bond process and spotlighted the various career paths involved in the project. Each presenter explained how they got where they are today in their respective industries and encouraged the students to reach out if they were interested in exploring that career path.

Aunt Angel has been battling cancer for the last 10 years. The students in Mrs. Panza’s class at McIntyre have been sending her videos, get well messages, and making her cards and pictures to help put a smile on her face.

Aunt Angel gets so much joy out of this and wanted to give something back to the students that they will never forget. She purchased shoes for all of the students to express their creativity.

Students across the district had the opportunity to visit the Oakland Schools STEMi Mobile Innovation Station last week. This mobile lab engages students, teachers, and families through hands-on experiences with autonomous vehicles, collaborative robots, extended reality, and smart manufacturing.

May 1st was National College Decision Day. University High School Academy celebrated with an assembly where the seniors announced where they would be attending in the Fall and their plans after graduation.

The Southfield Public Library is holding an art contest for patrons to select one new Library card design celebrating our 20th Anniversary. Show us your best festive designs or highlight why you love the Southfield Public Library and its services! Five finalist entries from each category, adult, and youth, will be available for viewing and public voting online and in person. One Winner will be selected from each category and announced on September 10, 2023, with cards made available then.

Only one submission per person, please. Refer to the submission forms for rules and accepted mediums.
