2022-23 Athletic Guidelines
As the football season is just getting underway Southfield Public Schools would like to
update you on two new SPS athletics rules and regulations.
Full list of SPS Athletic Rules & Regulations
On event day, guests can report issues and concerns by texting (248) 450-8915 with the location and issue, or contact event staff or security personnel (not vendors or custodians.)
Spectators will continue to be able to enjoy their game activities with greater safety and the knowledge that their entry into the stadium will be smoother and faster. They also will continue to be able to carry items allowed into the stadium, such as binoculars, cameras, and smartphones.
As the football season begins, we encourage parents and guardians to discuss with their students about the new rules and regulations for attending Southfield Public Schools athletic events.
Friendly Health Reminder
We are committed to providing updates and important information to our families regarding COVID-19 and other concerns that may impact the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff.
As several businesses, organizations, and school districts including SPS have lifted many of their COVID-19 protocols and mask mandates, it is important for us to remind our families of the importance of taking steps to prevent the spread of any virus or illness by practicing good hygiene and staying home when sick. We are closely monitoring students’ health and absence to help detect any potential for the presence of an infectious illness. We are asking parents/guardians to assist us in this effort by:
Keeping your child home if they have a fever over 100℉, a cough, or other respiratory symptoms. They can return to school 24 hours after the fever is no longer present without fever-reducing medicine.
Sharing your child’s symptoms when calling in their absence due to illness, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, and other respiratory symptoms. School staff will contact a parent or guardian if a child’s symptoms are not included when reporting their absence.
Talking with their students about one of the best ways to prevent the spread of this illness is through frequent hand washing and proper technique.
Southfield Public Schools continues to work closely with the Oakland County Health Department as we navigate through Covid-19 and the flu season to ensure we keep our students, families, and staff as safe as possible. Most importantly, keeping our school community safe is a partnership where we must all take precautions inside and outside of school. Please continue to monitor your health and those in your household. Physical distance, wash your hands frequently, do not come to school or work if you are experiencing any new or worsening symptoms, and get tested if you need.
