Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- T-minus 13 days and counting! We are getting geared up and there is a lot of good energy in the atmosphere here! All fall sports and activities went into full swing this week so that was exciting. Football jamboree tonight and opening game at CV on Sept. 2nd. Competitions for our other teams begin after Labor Day.
Freshman Orientation with our Link Crew leaders is coming up this Wednesday, Aug. 31st.
Please be patient with our staff as we register and schedule over 450 new incoming students at all grade levels. A lot will happen in the next two weeks to clean up and finalize student schedules. The official βgo liveβ date/time for schedules is Sept. 7 at 3:00pm. Iβve pushed back on this in the past because I say, βwhy wait?β. Well, I learned that when we put out early, there are more mistakes. Also, we get too many requests for changes in schedules that arenβt necessary. So, check on-line that afternoon and youβll be ready to go on the first day.
Weβre replicating something I liked about the start of last yearβ¦ an ALL STUDENT assembly, first thing at 7:45 in the stadium. Arrive early so you can be seated and ready to go at 7:45. While the office will be open for business with parents and students, we are going to direct students to the stadium prior to going into the building in the morning whether they drive, get dropped off, or bus. Why do I start with an assembly? As the principal, I only get a few opportunities over the year to be in person with ALL students at the same time. There is no day more important than Day 1 to connect with our students and start to paint the picture of what this school year will look like. I give them some insight into my expectations and also let them know I (WE) are here for them. Our new students havenβt experienced what Ridgeline is about, and coming together as one community is a powerful symbolic gesture.
Following the assembly students will be dismissed to the building and their advisory class where they will pick up their schedule and other βFirst Dayβ packet of stuff. Advisory teachers are posted and advertised throughout the building.
EMAIL!! The email message is being sent to you through School Messenger, which utilizes itβs own servers. ALL other emails staff send outside of the district, of course, go through our servers. Certain providers have blocked us because of spam being opened. ThereforeβGmail, Hotmail, yahoo, etcβ¦ addresses could be blocked at anytime or for extended periods. We are working through this but it is taking a long time.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: if you send an email to any staff and donβt get a response, try calling instead. If youβve sent any communication, going back to June and havenβt received a response, please reach out again. If you havenβt heard from staff like you normally do, itβs likely due to our email troubles.
Please CALL for any questions or support you are looking for.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt
