My Engineering Essentials class has been learning how to program with Robot C, as well as
building with VEX materials. The latest projects that they have been working on is to create and
program a drag car that can get the fastest time over a 24 feet distance and stop within 6 feet
after crossing the line. The second project that they have been working on is to design, build,
and program a car that can carry out a road trip. I gave the students multiple directions that
they had to follow to get from “their house” to the “movie theater” down the hall. The students
have been doing a great job with these cars and having a lot of fun as well.
My Introduction to Engineering and Design classes have been working on a Reverse
Engineering Project, where the students are asked to carry out a visual, functional, and
structural analysis of an item. Then they have to take the item apart, get accurate
measurements using dial calipers, and then create 3D models of the parts on Autodesk
Inventor.
My Civil Engineering class has spent the majority of the last few weeks working on designing
and creating a Habitat for Humanity House on Revit. My students learned how to create scaled
house blueprints using architectural rulers as well as using the correct symbols. They also had
to follow many accessibility guidelines and codes when designing their houses. After planning
out the houses they started creating 3D models of their houses on Revit. So far the houses are
looking great!
My Computer-aided-Design class has been working on multiple parts and projects on Autodesk
Inventor. One of the projects is to create an East Central Football State Champions related
ornament. I challenged the students to come up with creative designs that represented our
Football team winning state this year and they did a great job with that. After creating the
designs, they also learned how to use the laser engraver and got the opportunity to engrave
their design.
