FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
I hope this Newsletter finds you well! The summer weeks continue to pass by quickly, and preparations are in full-swing for the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
Here are a few important updates from the past two weeks:
- Supply lists, separated by grade level, have been emailed to all families. You can also find supply lists in the FACTS Family Portal. In the left hand taskbar, select "Resource Documents." Supply lists are located under "Document Archives."
- Installation has begun on our new windows in the elementary wing! The new installations look beautiful, bring even more natural light into the classrooms, and add both better insulation and additional security.
- Assembly has begun on the new desks for our 5th grade and middle school language arts classrooms. We're looking forward to seeing how our teachers will use these new desks creatively in the year ahead.
- We are currently in the process of final revisions to new conduct policies and procedures. Our 4-Year Strategic Plan calls for the establishment of a discipline committee to “determine common language and expectations, as well as effective disciplinary actions” across the school. The appointed committee met throughout the year last year to complete this task, and revised information and new procedures will be sent to families in the coming weeks.
- Design elements are being finalized on our new FACTS App for Families. The app (for iOS and Android) will provide families with easier, direct access to the Family Portal through a school-branded application.
Lastly, I am excited to introduce two new members of our Father Doyle staff, Mrs. Alexander and Ms. Saleem. Mrs. Alexander will be joining us as our physical education teacher, and Ms. Saleem as our music teacher. You can read more about both new staff members below.
Welcome Mrs. Alexander - Physical Education
Welcome Ms. Saleem - Music Education
Ms. Saleem is excited to bring her passion and talents to the Doyle community not only in the music classroom, but also in starting a new wind ensemble band at Father Doyle School. Details will be forthcoming; however, current plans include offering saxophone, trumpet, clarinet, flute, and percussion options for students in grades 5-8. No previous experience is necessary! Again, more details to come as the school year begins.
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Saleem!
FJVD Youth Group - Continuing Through the Summer!
Our next Youth Group meeting is this upcoming Wednesday, July 19th beginning at 6:15pm.
As a reminder, the evening begins at 6:15pm and consists of approximately 20 minutes of guided prayer, music, and reflection in the Church, followed by social activities for students. Youth group concludes at 7:30pm, with pick-up outside of the school gym.
We look forward to seeing you there!
As always, be assured of my prayers for you and your families.
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin
