March 1 Newsletter

Friday, March 1
During March, many national celebrations spotlight schools and public education, including National Music in Our Schools Month, Youth Art Month, and Read Across America Day. March is a great time to attend one of the many performances our schools are hosting, volunteer to read with one of our elementary students, or access our Facebook page and view our previous posts highlighting the artwork of our middle and high school students.
Here are the upcoming performances and concerts hosted by our Beloit Memorial High School students. Please take advantage of these performances and an art show that showcases our talented students. Our middle schools will host events in April; please check our district calendar on the homepage of all our websites for upcoming dates and times.

Forward Exam Testing
The Wisconsin Forward Exam will take place during a testing window from March 18 to April 26.
The exam is designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards. We recognize that this test is once a year and does not reflect all that your child knows, but it does measure grade-level expectations aligned to the standards. Your child’s school will send out more detailed information specific to their testing schedule in the near future so that you are aware of the testing days by grade level. Please support your child in preparing for a positive testing experience by encouraging them to do their best effort and ensuring they are well-rested.
The Forward Exam is administered online in the spring of each school year at:
- Grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics,
- Grades 4 and 8 in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and Social Studies
- Grades 10 Social Studies.
Please feel free to reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher with any follow-up questions or access this family brochure provided by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
