Bears Bulletin
October 23, 2020
A Message from Principal Jackson
Hello Miner Families,
I hope everyone is doing well. This weeks bulletin has a number of updates to sections that have been in the bulletin each week. They are all indicated with a note about updates so please read carefully. Here are a few highlghts:
In-Person Instruction: DCPS will return some students to the building for in person learning starting on November 9th, 2020. Those families that have been matched with a seat should expect communication from DCPS on October 23rd, 2020. The Miner team will follow up with phone calls starting next week. Families must adhere to the deadline for accepting their seat (if they chose to do so). Failing to do so in a timely manner will forfeit the seat and it will be offered to the next family on the lottery list.
Visiting Miner: Starting on Monday, visits to the school will no longer be allowed on a drop-in basis. Please see my letter about this change here and the one pager on scheduling a meeting here.
Re-opening Questions: We know that families have a number of questions or concerns about the re-opening plan for November. We will host our Admin Town Hall at 5:30pm on Thursday. Please join us as the topic for the conversation will be about the re-opening plan. We hope to see you there!
Than you all for all the the support and time ensuring your scholars are logged in on canvas daily and joining live sessions. Keep up the great work!
If you need anything from the school, here are the best contacts to use:
Enrollment: MinerESEnroll@k12.dc.gov
Principal Jackson - bruce.jackson@k12.dc.gov
Ms. Offor - uchenna.offor@k12.dc.gov
Stay safe and let the school know if we can be of any assistance.
Respectfully,
Principal Jackson
BACK TO SCHOOL 2020-2021
Virtual Learning Attendance
Students are required to attend virtual learning each day, Monday through Friday. Student attendance is tracked by logging into Canvas each day. Please make sure students log in between 6am and 11:59pm to receive credit for attending. The log in must be through CANVAS to ensure the attendance is captured daily.
District attendance requirements still exist. If your student is going to miss school, please let their teacher know and send a note to Ms. Joseph via email at chelsea.joseph@k12.dc.gov.
Medical and Dental Forms (Updated)
UPDATE: Families must have updated immunization in order to claim their in person learning classroom space if offered. Those who do not have updated documentation prior to November 9th will risk losing their seat and it will be given to the next family on the waitlist.
