Spring Break 2022!
Dear TCS Parents/Guardians,
Two years ago, in March of 2020, Gov. Ivey closed Alabama schools because of COVID 19. In Trussville, we immediately worked hard to continue the education of our students and offer double doses of grace, patience and understanding as we adjusted to new COVID 19 protocols. I am proud of TCS and the way we adapted. Finally, in March of 2022, it appears by our low COVID numbers that we are in a season for returning to normal after spring break.
I met with the principals about plans to reopen each school for visitors and activities. At their next faculty meeting, principals will discuss the unique reopening plans for each school with their faculty and staff. Reopening activities will occur differently at each school because of the ACAP testing season in April. During this state required testing, we have limited visitors anyway, but we are preparing to reopen around the testing dates that are different for each school with grades 2-8. I would ask for grace, patience and understanding as we prepare to reopen differently on each school campus.
This means parents can check school websites after spring break and look for communication from each school principal about visiting the school and school activities. Keep in mind, we hope this reopening lasts forever, but we will be ready to restrict visitors if our COVID numbers increase.
I want to thank the community and our Board of Education for helping TCS endure the hardships of this 2-year journey, as it is a period of time we will never forget. I do believe we have emerged stronger than we were before, and that is the silver lining. So, let’s work together to reopen and stay safe as we move into the last quarter of this school year.
